Founded in 1837, Marshall University is a public research university in West Virginia, United States. The university was initially established as Marshall Academy and became Marshall College in 1858. In 1961, it attained university status. The main campus of Marshall University is located in downtown Huntington. The other campuses are situated in South Charleston, Point Pleasant, Teays Valley and Beckley.
