Opened as an opportunity school providing Alternative Education to people from all walks of life, the Metropolitan State University of Denver was founded in 1965. Previously known as Metropolitan State College & Metropolitan State College of Denver, The Metropolitan State University of Denver is located in the heart of the central business district. Accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and being a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, Metropolitan State University of Denver is also accredited by more than 14 other accreditation bodies. The University is placed #87-#113 in Regional Universities West, #5 in Most Innovative Schools (tie), #91 in Top Performers on Social Mobility (tie) & #428 in Business Programs (tie) by US News Rankings 2020. With an undergraduate enrollment of 19,437, Metropolitan State University of Denver has a vast campus size of 127 acres.
