History, Affiliations & Rankings

New Jersey City University (NJCU) is a public liberal arts university in the City of New Jersey. The university opened in 1929 as New Jersey State Normal School and was renamed in 1988. NJCU is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. According to US News and World Report 2020, the university is ranked at #129-#170 in Regional Universities North, Times Higher Education rank it at 601-800th in the US Rankings 2018.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

The main campus is situated at 2039 Kennedy Boulevard Jersey City. Hepburn Hall served as the University's administrative center. The University has a west campus on the west side avenue. The university’s expansion plan includes a new 21-acre west campus, located between West Side Avenue and New Jersey Route 440. The School of Business is situated at Harborside Plaza. NJCU's College of Arts and Sciences, Education, Professional Studies, and School of Business offers 47 undergraduate degree programs and 30 graduate programmes, including emerging and interdisciplinary fields. Popular majors include Nursing, Psychology, Criminal Justice and Corrections, Business, Homeland Security and Disaster Management, Sociology, and Biology.

Accomplishments & Alumni

The Business programmes offered by the School of Business at New Jersey City University are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), recognised by New Jersey City he Council for Higher Education (CHEA). The famous alumnus Charles Minor graduated from New Jersey City University with a B.S. degree in criminal justice. Another famous alumnus is Melissa Ann Gorga is an American television personality, author, singer, designer, and businesswoman. 

Student Diversity & Visiting Companies

With almost 5000 undergraduate students, the undergraduate gender ratio is positive for women with 60% women and 40% male. About 100 international students from 30 countries pursue their academic dreams at the university. Most of these international students belong to Brazil, China, and India. There are a number of campus resources, offices, and organisations for students. Counselling services and career support is also provided to the students. The students get placements at companies such as Merck & co, Becton Dickinson and Company,Covance, CoWorx Staffing Services, etc.
