Founded in 1881, The New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) is a public university situated in Newark, New Jersey of the United States. Over the decade of its establishment, the university is known to offer world-class education and be a learning platform for students from across the world. The New Jersey Institute of Technology has academic affiliations with APLU, NASAD, MSA, AACSB, ACSA, ABET, NAAB, AACSB, CHEN, etc. The campus centre of the university expands over an area of 190,000 square feet. It houses Wellness and Events Centres and facilitates furnished residential halls for both domestic and international students.
Infrastructure, Campus & Courses
NJIT has six specialised schools that offer more than 125 undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Apart from this, the university offers Continuing Professional Education and online courses. More than 11,000 students are enrolled in the six schools and colleges of NJIT. The university is not only known to offer the best STEM courses but also other courses in the fields of humanities and architecture. NJIT has the finest classroom programmes with the latest technology and lab facilities for study and research. The university also supports recreational activities for the overall growth of the student. NJIT helps students to create a personal and professional network with students and professionals from across the world. Accomplishments & Alumni
Many notable accomplishments have been credited to the New Jersey Institute of Technology owing to its excellence in education and training. The institute counts among its alumni a winner of the Turing Award, a winner of the Dannie Heineman Prize for Mathematical Physics, 2 members of the National Inventors Hall of Fame, 1 member of the National Academy of Sciences, 8 members of the National Academy of Engineering, an astronaut, a winner of the Congressional Gold Medal, a winner of the National Medal of Technology, a winner of the William Bowie Medal, several IEEE medalists, and 9 members of the National Academy of Inventors which includes 2 senior members. The graduates of NJIT have won 8 Goldwaters, a Boren Scholarship, 4 Fulbrights, a Truman, 8 Gilmans, 2 Whitakers, and 11 NSF Graduate Research Fellowships.
Student Diversity & Visiting Companies
Approximately 1,400 students studying at the New Jersey Institute of Technology are international students who come from across 70 countries. This makes it one of the most diverse institutes in the United States. With a huge number of students from all over the world applying for admission at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, the selection process becomes competitive and the best of them are selected. This is done by keeping in mind that the diversity of the batch is maintained.
NJIT has decided to provide on-campus classes and will have students in the residence for the Fall session 2020. The institute is putting all efforts to ensure that all safety measures are followed. They are also implementing converged learning strategies to create maximum flexibility in the learning process.
NJIT has earlier created NJIT's operational plans for each phase of recovery from the COVID-19 situation. It is divided into 5 phases and is described below:
Phase 0 and Phase 1 involved Converged learning (fully remote).
Phase 2 involves limited in-person learning and critical experiential learning with OSHE waivers.
In Phase 3, Converged learning is fully implemented, social distancing is followed. Face cover and appropriate PPE is required in Labs and Studios.
In Phase 4, the institute will implement in-person learning. However, equal emphasis will be given on online classes so that if the COVID-19 conditions get worse then the institute can easily shift to the earlier phase.
This scholarship is offered to international students who join NJIT as a freshman. It is a four-year scholarship award. The scholarship covers tuition fees, living expenses, cost of books etc.
Following are the criteria to be eligible for this scholarship:
Students who are enrolled for admission in Albert Dorman Honors College are eligible for this scholarship. It is an additional scholarship assistance for the students who apply at NJIT.

This is a four-year scholarship that will cover tuition and fees.
Must have been selected by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC)
Must be a US lawful permanent resident (wishing to become a US citizen at the earliest opportunity permitted by law).
Must take the PSAT/NMSQT in the given year of the high-school program.
Must be enrolled in a full-time programme and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0.
Must be accepted to Albert Dorman Honors College
Must reside on campus
Value: From $500 up to full room and board
Value: Award to cover tuition fees for four years
Must maintain full-time enrollemnt with a minimum GPA of 3.0
Must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA
Value: Cover a prescribed amount of tuition and fees
These scholarships are awarded to students with outstanding academic records by different departments at the institute.
