New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) is a private research university and was established in 1955 to provide higher education in professional and technical career-oriented studies. The vision of the university is to become a leader in imparting education on technical, professional and economic aspects and support it with intensive research. New York Institute of Technology is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. NYIT is well recognized and has been able to receive accreditation by all the leading agencies for its respective programs such as AACSB, ABET, NAAB, etc including the university itself. Talking about its ranking, NYIT is ranked 42 in Regional Universities North by the US News & World Report 2020 edition.
Infrastructure, Campus & Courses
NYIT has a total undergraduate enrollment of 3,648, its setting is suburban, and the campus size is 215 acres. NYIT has two main campuses in New York – Old Westbury on Long Island (1050 acres) which is a suburban campus and the second one in Manhattan (25 acres) in an urban setting. The other campuses are located in Arkansas, Canada, UAE, and China.
University offers more than 90 programs through its department of 5 schools in health, engineering, Business and Management, Medicine, Art, and Sciences. The most sought after courses are Architecture, Biological, and Biomedical Sciences, Business, Management, Marketing, Computer Science and Engineering.

NYIT offers more than 90-degree programs and is providing solutions to world problems in areas such as cybersecurity, robotics, implantable/wearable technologies, medicine, health care, sustainability and many more through continuous efforts in research and development.
NYIT researchers are fighting the war on cybercrime, finding new energy alternatives, improving therapies for patients battling Parkinson’s, Ehlers Danlos, heart and kidney disease, and developing designs for a more environmentally-friendly future.
Some of the famous names associated with NYIT are Vincent L. Sadusky, the Chief Executive Officer at Univision Communications Inc and Kyriacos A. Athanasiou, Chair of the Biomedical Engineering department at the University of California, architect Reino Aarnio and graphics researcherLance Williams.

Around 9,000 students represent nearly all 50 states and 100 countries at NYIT. It has been ranked as number 1 as “Most Diverse Student Body among colleges and universities in the United States” by USA Today. The University embraces the different individuals so much that it has been ranked by Open Doors number 5 for “Most Foreign students among Private Institutions on the campus”.
