New York University (NYU) is a research-based private university situated in the city of New York, Shanghai and Abu Dhabi. The university was first established in 1831 in Greenwich Village, New York and later spread into various parts of the country. At present, they have 12 academic centres in the USA that offer admission to both local and international students. It secured rank 43 in the QS world ranking list and is affiliated with the Association of American Universities as well as the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

The campuses of NYU are well-developed and fully-equipped with all the facilities for students. The Wahington Square Campus has an interior space of five million square feet and a faculty of 1,700+ to guide and help students in their learning process. More than 50,000 students become a part of NYU every year. NYU offers 2,700+ courses to students in the fields of art, science, medicine, commerce, management, etc. A customised degree option is available for students under the College of Arts and Science, students get a chance to select their electives and formulate the degree according to interests.

Scholarships at NYU for International Students

NYU offers several scholarship options to new students, current NYU undergraduates, graduates and scholarships from external sources. 

Merit-Based Scholarships

NYU grants a limited number of merit-based scholarships to applicants whose families are unable to pay the full tuition fee at the university. All students applying to the university will automatically be considered for the same provided the admissions application is submitted on time. 

Scholarships for International Undergraduate Students at NYU

Need-Based Scholarships

All undergraduate international students will be required to complete the following in order to apply for the need-based scholarships at NYU:

  • Common Application

  • CSS Profile

Arch Scholarships

These scholarships are awarded to applicants who need financial help and want to have a positive impact on the world. The grant is renewable over four years of study at NYU. The scholarships aim to introduce students to career options and help them develop various skills to face the professional world. 

Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarships

MLK scholarships are awarded to incoming first-year students with remarkable academic achievement, leadership and commitment to humanitarianism, social progress and community service. 

Global Pathways Scholarships

This a need-based award of up to $4,000 per semester. Applicants must have a current FAFSA recorded with the university. Awards are offered in June for the fall semester and November for the Spring Semester.

While these need and merit-based scholarships are available for undergraduate international students at NYU, colleges and schools at the university also offer exclusive scholarships to students. 

Scholarships for International Graduate Students at NYU

International Student Scholarship

Awarded by the NYU School of Professional Studies, international student scholarships are awarded to international students on F-1 visas with outstanding academic backgrounds. Applicants must meet the admission requirements of the graduate programme in Global Affairs and pursue the full-time MS in Global Affairs for two years leading to the completion of the degree. The scholarship awards approximately $7,500 to $15,000 annually to selected students.

Eligibility: 

  • Must submit the complete application for admission by the Early Decision deadline of October 1 for Spring candidates and by January for Fall candidates.

  • Along with the application, candidates must submit copies of all transcripts demonstrating their academic record, one letter of recommendation, three essay questions and your financial need.

In order to be eligible for scholarships at NYU, international students must complete all required financial aid forms by the given deadlines for the current academic year. This means all international students who require scholarships/financial aid must complete the CSS profile.
