Oklahoma State University (OSU) was founded in 1890 as Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical College. It is the flagship institution of the Oklahoma State University System (a university system comprising six educational institutes across Oklahoma). The public land grant research university is located in Stillwater, Oklahoma. It is one of the premier land grant universities in the United States. The QS World University Ranking of OSU is 801-1000 and is also ranked 99th in the Forbes list of top public universities. In addition, the U.S. News and World Report ranks the university 96th among the top public schools in the country. OSU is accredited by theHigher Learning Commission (HLC) and affiliated withOak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU).

Infrastructure, Campus and Courses

Oklahoma State University's Stillwater campus is situated 60 miles from bothOklahoma City and Tulsa. Stillwater has been ranked sixth by Southern Living on its list for "The South's Friendliest Cities 2018". The university's campus has 32 residence halls, 13 living-learning communities,45 fraternities and sororities, 14 varsity sports teams. OSU has five academic colleges, a veterinary school and an osteopathic medical school that together offer200undergraduate majors, 79 Masters and 45 doctoral programs. The schools of business, fashion design, accounting, elite education, hospitality and tourism management have been time and again been ranked among the top schools in the US.

OSU is ranked top 10 in the United States for its contributions to United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. It is also ranked 85th among 1,115 institutions in the U.S according to the Times Higher Educations 2021 impact rankings. Alumni of Oklahoma State University can be found worldwide. The Alumni Association comprises more than 250,000 alumni, some of whom are notable personalities like Ed Roberts- the father of personal computers, actor James Marsden, Ponnala Lakshmaiah, an Indian politician, production designer and drummer K.K. Barrett, to name a few.
