Founded in 1947, Orange Coast College or OCC is located in Costa Mesa, California. The classes at OCC began in 1948 and at present, the college is considered as the top transfer college in the entire Orange County. OCC is also viewed as the nation’s finest community college in Southern California and is accredited by Western Association of Schools and Colleges, Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior College, U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. OCC provides the largest marine science programme of two years in the entire United States along with a certificate in aquarium studies. With caring faculty, administrators and classified staff, the OCC enrolls more than 25,000 students per semester. The college is a global institution that offers a strong learning environment where students can grow and flourish profoundly.
Infrastructure, Campus & Courses
The campus of OCC is spread across 164 acres of land. The college provides more than 135 career and academic courses including one of the most acclaimed and popular public nautical programmes. Almost half of the students are enrolled in one of the most popular career and technical education programmes provided by OCC. The state of the art infrastructure of the college comprises 80 buildings consisting of art and design studios, lecture halls, planetarium, computing centre, 3-D metal printers, aquariums, library, gymnasium etc. OCC has around 60 student clubs and 14 academic honours societies that keep students engaged. It is the first community college in Southern California that offers campus housing facilities to the students. The resident halls are of apartment-style living and they hold a total of 800-bed spaces.
Accomplishments & Alumni
OCC holds the first position as the best community college in Orange County. It also has the first rank out of Orange County's community colleges in the number of transfer of students to the California State University (CSU) and University of California (UC). OCC is known for its quality education and brilliant faculty. The college conducts cultural and leisure activities time and again to promote the holistic development of the students.
