Oregon State University is a public research university, which was established in 1868. It is located in Corvallis, Oregon in the United States. Oregon State University was ranked among the top 1% global universities by the Center for World University Rankings 2018 and 1st for Safest College Campus in the US by the ADT News and Resources in 2018. Besides this, the university is among the top 20% universities with best paid graduates in US according to the PayScale College Salary Report 2018. Oregon State University was ranked 48th among the top research university in the US. 

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

Oregon State is known for its incredible natural beauty and affordable living costs. OSU is one of the only two universities to receive Land, Space, Sea and Sun grant designations. The campus of the university has won many awards for its safe and beautiful environment. Around 200+ academic programs from almost all education departents are available in the course bucket of Oregon State University. There are two campuses of the university that conssitutes of arond 11 colleges. Oregon State University is known for its computer science program. College Factual 2018 has placed the university among top 1% for its computer science program.

Oregon State University  has produced a variety of graduates. The university graduates have achieved tremendous success and leadership in their respective fields. Philip Emeagwali (1989 Gordon Bell Prize winner), Donald Pettit (NASA astronaut), William Oefelein (NASA astronaut), Douglas Engelbart (Inventor of the computer mouse), Ann Kiessling (Reproductive biologist and leading stem cell researcher) and J. Michael Scott (Ornithologist and research scientist) are some of the notable alumni of the university. 

Student Diversity & Visiting Companies

Oregon State University is a home for 31,476 students with 3,969 international students from 112 countries. Students from all over the world have been pursuing their education at the university. The student population is 15% graduates, 83% undergraduates and 2% professionals out of which 60% of students are Oregon residents. Major tech firms call Oregon's' Silicon Forest ' home, making OSU students the perfect place to gain internship experience and start their careers.

COVID-19 Response

Oregon State University (OSU) has created comprehensive plans for the 2020-21 session to ensure that there  is limited on campus teaching at both Corvallis and Bend campuses for the upcoming Fall session. The decision is taken to avoid the spread of COVID 19 pandemic. 

The university is committed to offer courses and programmes that would meet the current situation and the needs of students. Those who are interested in online courses at home can choose the same option. 

OSU will offer four types of courses for the upcoming Fall session. The courses and its description is mentioned below:

  • In Person: Candidates who can join on campus classes can choose this option. To ensure safety and precautions, only few students will be allowed to attend in person classes for the Fall term. The number will be no more than 50. 

  • Remote Learning: It includes classes and video conferencing via Zoom. The World Class Faculty of the university will conduct these classes. 

  • Blended: It is the combination of in-person and remote learning.

  • Online through E-campus: Students can access online classes without any predefined timing for classes. There will be no face to face interaction between the faculty and student.

Undergraduate Scholarships For International Students at Oregon State University

Oregon State University offers various scholarships for UG courses for international students. The list of scholarships offered to international students is mentioned below: 

Provost's Scholarship for Excellence

Eligible freshman candidates applying for UG courses at the university are automatically considered for Provost's Scholarship for Excellence. The eligibility criteria for the scholarship are as follows:

  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 in high- school
  • The scholarship is renewed if the candidate maintains a minimum GPA of 3.0 

Value: The scholarship value is $6,000/ year, up to 4 years

Honorary Scholarship for Leadership

Honorary Scholarship for Leadership is offered on merit- basis and proof of leadership quality. International students applying for direct entry must have a minimum GPA of 3.75 to be considered for admission. 

Applicants must submit an essay of 500-1000 words to outline the leadership quality. Students who have a leadership quality get a chance to prove their leadership quality in the first year of their studies at OSU. 

Value: The value of scholarship is $10,000 which is a one- time scholarship.

Continued Success Scholarship

Continued Success Scholarship is offered to students who maintain a minimum GPA in the last term for International Direct (ID), International Year One (IYO) or Undergraduate Transfer Program (UTP). There is no need to fill in a separate application form. Eligible candidates are directly considered for the scholarship. Graduate Scholarships for International Students

The scholarship for international students enrolled in the graduate studies are as follows:

Regional Scholarship

Regional Scholarship is not merit- based but is offered based on the availability of the scholarship according to the region of the world.

The scholarship is offered once and the value of scholarship is variable.

Continued Success Scholarship    

A Continued Success Scholarship is offered based on the GPA maintained in the last term of Graduate Pathway (GPW) or Master's International Direct (MID) programme. Following table shows minimum GPA and value of scholarship offered:
