Point Park University is a popular private university established in 1960 in the beautiful city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. For most of the time, PPU worked as a Community College up till 2004 when it finally attained the status of a University. Currently, PPU offers Bachelors, Masters, Doctoral and Online Degrees to its students. Advanced pedagogy, use of latest technologies, practical knowledge, etc are some of the key features of education at PPU. The University's ranking is #80 in the 2020 edition of Best Colleges is Regional Universities North. According to the USA Today Sunday Magazine Point State Park is the Second Best View in the United States.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

The University offers over 70 majors, more than 20 masters and doctoral degrees and over 20 online degrees. These courses are offered through four schools: School of Arts & Sciences, School of Business, School of Communication and Education, Rowland School of Business and Conservatory of Performing Arts.The campus in Downtown Pittsburgh, giving students easy access to internship and career opportunities with leading companies and organisations. With more than 50 student clubs and organisations, Point Park is well-known for its active and exciting life beyond the classroom.

Accomplishments & Alumni

The Point Park University is a community of friends, alumni, staff, neighbours, students and faculty who have collectively made a difference in diverse areas. As of Fall 1019, the university has a total alumni of 26,634 who have achieved recognition in myriad fields ranging from entertainment to politics. Point Park alumni from the School of Arts and Sciences and School of Business and have worked as executives in the engineering technology, banking, entertainment, education, sports and media industries, along with a number of nonprofits. Notable alumni of Point Park University include John Amplas, Greg Brown, Melina Kanakaredes, Jimmy Miller, to name a few.

Student Diversity & Visiting Companies

The University boasts of students from more than 42 countries enrolled in over 100 undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. 3% of its undergraduates and 6% of its graduates are international students. Point Park organises various both on and off campus programmes to give students an opportunity to connect with each other, develop leadership skills, and create meaningful college experiences. Along with pristine parks, hundreds of shops and restaurants, and riverfront trails, the University neighborhood is home to Fortune 500 companies, government agencies and non-profit organisations where students can find employment options in abundance.

Covid-19 Response

While the entire world is battling Coronavirus, Point Park University is also constantly towards making the campus safe while meeting the needs of students and maintaining great academic standards. As the cases continue to rise, the university continues to follow public health guidelines provided by state and county health officials. As of November 17, 2020, the following updates have been put forward:

  • All classes and final exams will be conducted in online mode after Thanksgiving.

  • Students, staff and professors must practice social distancing, wear masks, wash hands on regular intervals whether they are on campus or off campus.

  • Those who are returning to campus or travelling from outside of the US must self-quarantine for 14 days before attending classes, moving into residence halls, or visiting the university offices.

  • The Spring 2021 semester will commence one week later than the previous date, i.e. January 19, 2021. Students must register for spring classes through Point web.

  • No matter what course, students will get the opportunity to attend in-person classes.

  • In order to protect the Point Park community, the Spring break in 2021 has been cancelled. Also, finals will be concluded on April 30, 2021.
