History, Affiliations & Rankings
San Jose State University (SJSU) was first set up before the American Civil War in 1857 in San Francisco, then San Jose (cultural, political and economic center of Silicon Valley) in 1871 and later in Los Angeles (1882). This Los Angeles Campus later came to be known as UCLA in the year 1927.
It is academically affiliated to WASC and AASCU whilst also being officially accredited by Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications (ACEJMC), National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD), AACSB (business), ACS-CPT (chemistry), ABET (computer science & all engineering), ATMAE (industrial tech) for various programs. SJSU is ranked 295 by Forbes and 287 by Times Higher Education US Ranking 2020. The Princeton Review lists San Jose State Business programs as best among 296 in the nation. US News & World Report 2020 has given the following rank numbers to SJSU in their list #24 in Regional Universities West.
Infrastructure, Campus & Courses
With a 155-acre set-up housing over 55 buildings, SJSU also has a second campus (South Campus-62 acres) a few miles south from the main campus. The huge main campus is the location for all of SJSU's academic colleges and schools namely Lucas College and Graduate School of Business, Connie L. Lurie College of Education, Charles W. Davidson College of Engineering, College of Graduate Studies, College of Health and Human Sciences, College of Humanities and the Arts, College of Professional and Global Education, College of Science, College of Social Sciences along with focussed institutions like School of Art and Design, Donald and Sally Lucas Graduate School of Business, School of Information, School of Journalism and Mass Communications, School of Music and Dance, The Valley Foundation School of Nursing & the School of Social Work. The most rewarding and chosen majors and degree options at SJSU among 145+ bachelors and masters with 100+ concentrations are psychology, design studies, kinesiology, business administration, marketing, and justice studies.

SJSU is known for working toward reducing its ecological footprint and has many of its campus buildings are LEED certified. Offering various resources, SJSU is one of the only few universities able to provide world-class facilities with over 450 certified student organizations. San Jose State University has an active 2,70,000+ alumni engaging a diverse community in their international network.
