Founded by the Sisters of Charity in 1885, Seton Hill University is a leading Catholic coeducational liberal arts university in the US. It is named after Elizabeth Ann Seton who is the founder of the Sisters of Charity who was canonized as the US’ first native-born saint. The U.S. News & World Report 2021 ranked the university under a number of categories including Best Regional University, North; Best Colleges for Veterans; Best Value School and Best Graduate School/Health Schools- Physician Assistant. Seton Hill University is also featured in Princeton Review’s list of Best Northeastern College, 2021 and was named an Apple Distinguished School for the sixth time in 2019. With affiliations with ACCU, NAICU, CUC, MSA, the university educates its students to “think and act critically...”.
Infrastructure, Campus & Courses
Located in southwestern Pennsylvania’s Laurel Highlands (yet only 35 miles from Pittsburgh), Seton Hill is a 200-acre campus. It offers a one-of-kind student experience outside the classroom at local restaurants, cafes and coffee shops off-campus; free concerts in St. Clair Park; hiking, skiing and biking opportunities in the Laurel highlands; visual and performing arts classes; among others. Seton Hill offers over 100 degree and certificate programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels that are accredited nationally by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. All of these programs are delivered at Seton Hill’s five Schools of Business, Education & Applied Social Sciences, Humanities, Natural & Health Sciences and Visual & Performing Arts.
Accomplishments & Alumni
Seton Hill is a community of more than 14,000 students living across the world. Awarded the College Distinction for the 2020-21 academic year, the university prides itself on having graduated more than 100 classes to date. In addition, The university’s Art Centre has been awarded the Award of Excellence by The American Institute of Architects’ Committee on Architecture for Education. Among the notable alumni of Seton Hill university include the former first lady of Pennsylvania Michelle Moore Ridge, Justice Ronne Froman, CEO of Denver Health Dr Patricia A. Gabow, former professional soccer goalkeeper Ian Joyce and many others.
Student Diversity & Visiting Companies
Seton Hill University stands for providing a supportive and inclusive environment for students from diverse backgrounds and different countries. Its Office of Diversity, Inclusion and International Services make sure that numerous programs and activities are conducted throughout the year to help promote different cultures on campus. The university has a nationally-recognised Career and Professional Development Center (CPDC) that has successfully recorded 93% career/graduate placement and 100% student engagement in career planning via the Fit For The World Program. Top companies that have visited the campus for placements include Amazon, Boeing, Excela Health, PNC, Steelers, Westinghouse and so on.
COVID-19 Response
Seton Hill University continues to make changes to its measures according to the ever-changing government restrictions and guidelines. Here is the important and latest information about the university’s response to the pandemic that students must make note of for the 2021-22 academic year:
The university had delayed the start of the Spring 2021 semester to February 2, 2021.
It has resumed in-person instruction and residential living in the Spring 2021 semester. However, in some cases, remote work may still be required especially to accommodate physical distancing measures in high-density areas.
International students were required to return to campus earlier than January 29, 2021.
It has implemented a universal testing program for all students, faculty and staff engaging in face-to-face classes.
The Seton Hill University Covis-19 Daily Dashboard is updated regularly with information about how many tests were administered, positive/negative test results and more.
Students attending face-to-face classes in Spring 2021 will be asked to electronically sign and abide by a Social Contract defining their roles and responsibilities as part of the campus community.
Incoming students at Seton Hill University can apply for academic scholarships and awards based on their GPA, ACT and SAT scores. There are no specific eligibility requirements for the scholarship, however, here are some of the examples outlining the value of these scholarships depending on the academic background of the winners.

Awarded to students accepted into the Honors program, the award is renewable as long as the student remains enrolled in the Honors program. The scholarship is valued at $10,000 for four years.
These grants are awarded to students who demonstrate financial need and are enrolled in a full-time undergraduate program at the university. It is based on the results of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Every year, international students enrolling in undergraduate programs are given an opportunity to be awarded a merit scholarship at the university. This scholarship is valued at $17,000 - $21,000 per year for four years.
