Founded as a law school in 1906, the Suffolk University was named after its location in Suffolk County, Massachusetts. The university has earned accreditations from The New England Commission of Higher Education and 14 program-specific accreditations including The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business - AACSB International, Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, American Bar Association, National Association of Schools of Art and Design, The International Association of Counseling Services among others. The University was ranked 291 st US Rankings 2020 by Times Higher Education and #38 in Regional Universities North by US News 2020.
Infrastructure, Campus & Courses
The university comprises the Suffolk University Law School, the College of Arts & Sciences, and the Sawyer Business School. The campus features science labs, media production facilities, athletic facility area, campus fitness center and many other facilities under constant development to keep the infrastructure up to date. The Sawyer Business School offers many undergraduates, graduate degrees and joint degrees. It focuses on global business education, the Global MBA is a specialised MBA in international business with an intensive concentration in either finance or marketing and an internship programme. The Suffolk College of Arts and Sciences offers more than seventy undergraduate and graduate programmes through seventeen academic departments including the New England School of Art and Design (NESAD). Suffolk University Law School, a world-class legal education, offers a standard Juris Doctor programme and advanced L.L.M. programme. Suffolk Law graduates are leaders in state and federal government and global companies as well. Suffolk University has a satellite campus in Madrid, Spain. The university also houses various research centers and institutes including Restorative Justice, and Women's Health and Human Rights, the Moakley Archives, the Poetry Center, Political Research Centers, and the Sagan Energy Research Laboratory.
Accomplishments & Alumni
Suffolk University is the only one in the nation with four top-25 ranked legal skills specialties–clinics, dispute resolution, legal writing, and trial advocacy by U.S. News & World Report for five consecutive years (2017-21). In 2018, National Jurist named Suffolk Law as the top law school in the country in legal technology. ILRG placed the law school 78th for job placement and 23rd for best bar passer rates among first time-takers. Suffolk has also been ranked the 35th most desirable law school in the country by the Leiter. The Political Research Center (SUPRC) holds numerous scientific polls of national and regional political issues. Following its accomplishments, numerous notable scholars, prominent speakers and politicians have visited and given speeches at the university like John F. Kennedy, Supreme Court Justice William Rehnquist, and former U.S. President George H.W. Bush. The university has over 1,58,500 alumni. Student Diversity & Visiting Companies
The university celebrates diversity by embracing a diverse student population of about 1,349 international students representing at least 45 countries with African American, Asian, Native American, students of color, women, and LGBTQ. University, for students, arranges for a meet with an advisor, workshops, or job fairs. Being located in the financial district, the university develops and maintains relationships with top global employers and Fortune 500 companies to give them opportunities for life-changing internships and career connections.
COVID-19 Response
Suffolk University supports international students and it is making all the necessary efforts to accommodate students as per the guidelines defined by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) local and state officials. The university has already made plans for new international students that the two of their courses will be delivered in face-to-face format unless the student decides to take the coursework in fully online mode. They are also making efforts to ensure that the existing international students have at least one of the courses taken as face-to-face. The university is committed to provide transformational learning opportunities to international students even in prevailing adverse situations.

All applicants to undergraduate as well as postgraduate programmes at Suffolk are automatically considered for the available merit-based scholarships. There is no need to fill any application form or submit any additional documents other than those required with the application form.
Students holding an F-1 visa and enrolled in full courses of study are entitled to look for employment opportunities to help fund their study at Suffolk University. The following means of employment can be claimed by international students.
These include on-campus work opportunities for which students are compensated through a paycheck or other means such as room and boarding. Specific employers who have an official contract with the university are also entitled to hire students in off-campus job opportunities. However, the work must be related to the student’s curriculum or research project. No additional authorization is required for these types of opportunities.
Optional Practical Training (OPT)
A temporary off-campus work authorization issued to international students who seek practical work experience related to their studies.
Curricular Practical Training (CPT)
These are internship or practical training opportunities, which are an integral part of the candidates’ programmes.
Accepted students are free to contact the Office of Student Financial Services for any information regarding the means of financial aid available to them.
As a university that understands that an investment in education is important but can be really expensive, Suffolk University aims to make it affordable by offering scholarships and financial aid to the students. The university has granted over $150 million in aid to accepted students and 95% of undergraduate freshmen receive scholarships for study.
