Founded in 1914, the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) is an urban, public university situated in Texas, United States. It is the second oldest institution among the list of universities of the University of Texas System. UTEP is ranked as no. 1 U.S public university by the Brookings Institution, the non-profitable public policy organisation of  Washington, D.C. The award was granted for its successful achievements in research work and student social mobility. The university is known to be one of the top universities to grant STEM courses. 

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

UTEP campus is known for its unique campus that expands over an area of 420 acres. The architecture and buildings of the university are inspired by the Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan. The campus has rich cultural resources with many museums and galleries. It has Chihuahuan desert gardens, cinemas and space for music and theatre performance. The campus also has facilities for sports and recreation. The university is expanding with significant construction and state of art facilities in various disciplines like engineering, computer science, chemistry, health sciences and nursing. Presently, the institute offers 72 Bachelor’s degree programmes, 72 Master’s degree programmes and 22 Doctoral courses. Apart from the on-campus courses, the university also offers online courses that can be accessed and completed from remote areas.

University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) is emerging as a leader in higher education. It has become a national model to offer one of the best academic and research programmes. The university is committed to offering courses that meet the needs of industry and modern business. UTEP is also designated as an R1 university (very high research activity) by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education. 

Student Diversity & Visiting Companies

Every year, more than 25,000 students are enrolled in various courses at UTEP. The university has launched online courses with a motive to provide access for higher education to a diverse range of students. The vision of the university is to create a global community for learners and increase global awareness. They are also aiming to expand online courses of high quality and better engagement.

COVID-19 Response 

UTEP had decided to offer most of the courses in a hybrid format. In this format, students will be involved in a combination of online classes and face to face interaction at the university campus. The finalised plan and schedule for the Fall term will be communicated to students. 

Most students will have the option to choose remote classes. Students will be able to access recorded lectures and class materials. Some courses will be conducted in an online live session. 

Courses planned to be conducted in online mode for the Fall semester will not be shifted to on-campus classes. Such classes will be developed with quality content and will be implemented to meet the requirements of students. 

The university is giving priority to hybrid classes for international students. They are also working with each individual to ensure that the classes offered to them meet the federal requirements of F1 Visa.
