History, Affiliations & Ranking

Tracing its roots back to 1859 with the establishment of the Medical College of Alabama, the University of Alabama Birmingham was first formed through the combination of the Medical College of Alabama and the Birmingham Extension Centre, in 1966. UAB was able to receive autonomy in 1969 and subsequently became an independent institution. The University of Alabama Birmingham has been accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges among other high renowned accreditation authorities. UAB has also been ranked No.1 by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings in the 2019 Young University Rankings. Meanwhile, the university has also been ranked 133 overall in Performance Ranking of Scientific Papers for World Universities.

The University of Alabama Birmingham offers a wide range of courses at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. Providing education in 12 different fields, viz. For International Students

  • All international students who are interested in studying under a full-time degree-seeking programme offered by the University of Alabama at Birmingham, provided they meet the necessary requirements.
  • Scholarships are awarded on a first-come-first-serve basis and are renewable for a duration of 4 years or 8 academic semesters.

Eligibility:

  • Candidates should have graduated from a secondary or high school.
  • They should have secured a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a scale of 4.0.
  • Candidates should not have enrolled in post-secondary work.
  • All interested candidates should be anticipating holding an F-1 visa.
  • Students receive external funding such as government scholarships, etc are not eligible for the scholarship.

Amount: US$7,500 per year.
