The University of Arkansas was founded in 1871 as a land grant institution in Fayetteville, Arkansas. It is also referred to as the U of A. It is a public research university and the flagship of the University of Arkansas System. The university is accredited to the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). The University of Arkansas is one of the top-ranked universities in the United States. U of A encourages ideas and innovations to find solutions for real-world problems. The courses offered include 99 Undergraduate Majors, 91 Masters degree programs, 36 Doctoral and specialist programs and 33 graduate certificate programs.
