Established in 1958, the University of New Orleans (UNO) is a comprehensive urban research university and the first fully integrated public university in the South. The University of New Orleans is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges and many program-specific accrediting bodies like Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB-International), Council for Accreditation of Counseling & Related Educational programmes (CACREP), National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD), and many others. The university has successfully been placed among the top 1,000 universities in the world by the Center for World University Rankings. The University of New Orleans is ranked #293-#381 in National Universities 2020 edition by the US News.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

The university’s campus sits at the southern shore of Lake Pontchartrain in the metropolitan area of New Orleans, Louisiana. With coffee shops, pool, the recreation and fitness center, the fine arts gallery, a cove for activities at the campus and the French Quarter within a few minutes drive boasts world-class collegiate experience. The College of Business Administration offers an accounting programme with an AACSB accreditation placing it among the top three percent of programmes in the world and master's degree programme in hospitality and tourism management with a 100% industry-specific job placement rate. The College of Engineering offers the only electrical, mechanical and civil engineering programmes in the city. School of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering is one of its kind in the city and among the few in the country. The Computer Science Department gives students real-world software development work experience. The College of Liberal Arts, Education, and Human Development prepares students vigorously to supplement their academic curriculum. UNO’s Center for Hazards Assessment, Response and Technology is the only university research center in the nation to focus on hazard mitigation.

Accomplishments & Alumni

For six years in a row, UNO has been ranked among the top 20 schools with students graduating with the lightest debt loads by the U.S. News and World Report. 2016 Payscale.com reported UNO alumni to have the highest average early-career salaries of all Louisiana universities. UNO annually awards over $41 million dollars in financial aid and scholarships. UNO is one of fewer than 100 public universities to be classified as a Research University by the Carnegie Foundation. In the long run, UNO has graduated with more than 80,000 alumni that include famous names such as Daniel L. Haulman the aviation historian, John Larroquette the film, television and stage actor and 5-time Emmy Award winner and Tony winner, Wayne Cooper the former NBA basketball player, etc.

Student Diversity & Visiting Companies

UNO enrolls students from all 64 Louisiana parishes, all 50 states, and more than 130 countries bringing together a diverse population to dwell and grow as better personalities. Companies like GE, IBM, Northrop-Grumman, Shell and many more big names visit the campus for education fairs to give students excellent opportunities to connect.
