History, Affiliations & Rankings

The University of Texas at Permian Basin (UT Permian Basin) was established initially In 1969 in Odessa Texas. It is an “upper-level” university—i.e., a college that accepts only juniors, seniors, and graduate students. UTPB has received all the prestigious accreditations including the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACSCOC).  The institution has been ranked #82 in Regional Universities West (tie) by the US News and World Report 2020.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

The Campus locations are Odessa and Midland, Texas spread over 600 acres including an Arts Center, Library, 3-mile walking/jogging park, and Largest heated outdoor pool in West Texas. U T Permian Basin offers 35 Undergraduate Degree Programs and 18 Graduate Degree Programs through  5 Schools and Colleges. UT Permian Basin offers more than 50 undergraduate, graduate, and online programs. Popular majors include Psychology, Business, and Liberal Arts and Humanities.
 
Accomplishments & Alumni

UTBP has done phenomenally well in academics owing to the fact that its students' acceptance rate to medical school is 70%, compared to the state average of 45%. About 100-percent of students cleared the Fundamental of Engineering Exam, which is  21% higher in comparison to the national average.

Recently, UTPB engineers have come up with cutting edge Covid19 medical equipment. Notable alumni include Gloria Feldt, Sandy Collins, Buddy West, Gary L.Clingman

UT Permian Basin is an ideal study destination for international applicants as it offers a diverse classroom, the student population consists of students from 36 States, 185 Texas Counties and 45 countries. Around 3% of students are from Asia.

The companies often recruiting are Occidental Petroleum, Nova Chemicals, Midland ISD, Warren CAT, Aprotex Corp., Endeavor Energy Resources.
