Established in 1851, The University of the District of Columbia (UDC) is the only public and historically black land-grant university in Washington, D.C. The university is a member school of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund. US News 2020 ranks UDC at #129 - #170 among the Best Colleges in Regional Universities.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

The full university system offers a workforce and many certificate programmes in addition to Associate, Bachelorette, Master's, professional, and Doctoral degrees. The university's academic schools include the University of the District of Columbia – known as Community College, College of Arts & Sciences, School of Engineering & Applied Sciences, School of Business & Public Administration, Colleges of Agriculture, Urban Sustainability & Environmental Sciences, and School of Law. In January 2019, UDC leased one property near its Van Ness campus as a part of its project to Enhance its infrastructure.

Accomplishments & Alumni 

UDC School of Law ranks in Top 10 Nationally for clinical legal training and diversity. The university athletic team is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and competes at Division II as a member of the East Coast Conference (ECC). Notable alumni are former Chief Judge of the United States District Court Norma Holloway Johnson, Cathy Lynn Lanier, former chief of the Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia, Basketball player Rasheim Ali Abdul Wright and Thomas L. Kilbride, American judge.

Student Diversity & Visiting Companies

Giving students from all ethnicities and countries an opportunity to get higher education, UDC has 1127 women and 642 male students in the undergraduate course. The majority of students attending the UDC are non-traditional adult part-time students with a gender distribution of 42 percent male students and 58 percent female students. International students belong mostly to Jamaica, Saudi Arabia and Brazil. Prominent organisations that hire students from UDC are the Defense Logistics Agency, US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and IMCS Group.
