University of Sciences in Philadelphia or USciences was established in 1821 as Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and it became the first Pharmacy college in the United States. The University was established for the improvement of scientific standards and to train more students in the field of Pharmacy. In 1821, after its conception the college became co-ed in the year 1876, and it issued its first degree in Pharmacy to a woman in 1883. In 1921, its name changed to Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Sciences and in 1998 it again changed to the University of Sciences in Philadelphia. University is affiliated to Division II NCAA, CACC, ECAC. The University is ranked at 198th in the US Rankings 2020 according to the THE Rankings.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

The university has a modest campus size of 35 acres which houses the Marvin Samson Centre for the History of Pharmacy, an integral part of the University. In 1998, the university acquired vacant industrial land and it doubled its size. BLT Architects designed the Athletic and Recreation Centre in 2003 it has a facility for gymnasium, recreation gymnasium, fitness area, and an indoor track. Classes and laboratories are in McNeil Science and Technology Centre. The University offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in Business, Mathematics, Pharmacy, Statistics, Marketing, Humanities, Sciences includes Health science, microbiology, Laboratory science, Neuroscience, etc.

Accomplishments & Alumni 

The Museum in the College of Pharmacy is one of its kind in North America. It has a collection of over 12,000 pharmaceutical and medical objects, and artifacts that are more than five centuries old. 

University of the Sciences is known to be the alma mater of great inventors like Hires Root Beer extract, Photocopy toner, Gas Discharge laser development, and Plant Growth regulators. Notable Alumni of University of Science include Robert Mc Neil (chairman and CEO of Mc Neil Laboratories Inc), Eli Lilly (President of Eli Lilly Company)
