History, Affiliations & Rankings

Founded in March 1886, four years before the territory was admitted as the 44th state, The University of Wyoming (UW) became a public land-grant research university in Laramie, Wyoming. UW is affiliated with The Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU). If we focus on the National Ranks, Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) ranks UW #117, whereas Forbes ranks UW at #347. US News and world rankings 2020, ranks UW #228 in National Universities. Times Higher Education ranks it 245th US Rankings 2020. QS WUR ranks it among those with a very high research output. 

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

The University of Wyoming consists of seven colleges, agriculture & natural resources, arts and sciences, business, education, engineering, and applied sciences, health sciences, and law. The university offers over 120 undergraduate, graduate and certificate programs including Doctor of Pharmacy and Juris Doctor.  Out of the 785 acres of campus, the University’s Academic infrastructure is called The Classroom Building, dedicated in 1971 at a cost of $1.75 million, which is designed to be a general-purpose building for the university. On the other hand, the University has four residence halls and four apartment complexes and even an American Heritage Center. The most popular majors at the University of Wyoming include Business, Management, Marketing, Education, Related Support Services, Engineering, Health Professions, and Related Programs, and Biological & Biomedical Sciences.

Accomplishments & Alumni 

UW has earned commendation in six academic areas; science and technology, arts and humanities, environment and natural resources, life sciences, and critically required professions. Of the thousands of notable Alumni, Josh Allen (NFL Quarterback for the Buffalo Bills), Rodney Anderson (former member of the Wyoming House of Representatives), Rigo Beltrán ( former Major League Baseball pitcher), are the most renowned ones.
