Valdosta State University (VSU) is a public institution that was founded in 1906 located in Valdosta, Georgia. VSU is an NCAA Division II member institution, since 1981, and the University is a member of the Gulf South Conference. It is affiliated by National Collegiate Honors Council (NCHC), Southern Regional Honors Council (SRHC). It is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. VSU is one of the universities of the University of Georgia System. According to the US News & World Report 2020, it is ranked 293 among National Universities, 125 in Top performers on Social Mobility, and 331 in Business Programs.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses 

The campus is built across 168 acres and has two campuses. The Main campus for academic and administrative departments and the other campus is the North campus. VSU offers graduate and undergraduate courses in several disciplines such as Business Administration, Education, and human services, humanities and social sciences, science and mathematics, nursing and health sciences and arts. The most popular majors at Valdosta State University include Business, Management, Marketing, and Related Support Services; Health Professions and Related Programs; Communication, Journalism, and Related Programs; Education; and Psychology.

Accomplishments & Alumni

2019 marks the 25th year that VSU has had a technical assistance contract/grant with Georgia's Babies Can’t-Wait program. VSU supports the pre-service and in-service learning needs of the professionals who provide Early Intervention services to Georgia's eligible children with special needs ages birth to 3. Also, Dr. Ruth Stonestreet, a retired faculty member in Communication Sciences and Disorders, was named a 2020 Distinguished Fellow for the National Academies of Practices. 

Celebrity Alumni from Valdosta State University include Lisa Blount (actress), Brad Carter (musician), Bruce Joyner (singer), Donald Stoker (historian), Briny Baird (golfer), Ashley Bell (politician), to conclude VSU has produced celebrities across all the fields.

Student Diversity & Visiting Companies

Valdosta State promotes diversity and it enrolls students from minorities as well in all the courses. In fall 2011, 6.5% of the faculty and nearly 31% of students were African American. Overall student diversity score of VSU is 67 out of 100, and its rank is 937 from 2475.
