History, Affiliations & Rankings

Wake Forest University, a private university, was founded in Wake Forest, North Carolina, in the year 1834. It shifted its campus to Winston-Salem, North Carolina in 1956 and is now home to more than 8,000 students from across the world. In 2020, US News and World Report ranked WFU 23rd among universities with the “Best Undergraduate Teaching” and 2nd among best colleges and universities in North Carolina. In addition, the university achieved the 33rd rank in  Research Universities and 46th in Private Colleges according to Forbes’ ranking. The US News, September 2019 has also ranked Wake 25th for “Best Value” and 27th among national universities in the country.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

Spread over an area of 340 acres, Wake Forest University includes four campuses- Reynolda Campus, Baptist Medical Center, Charlotte Center and Innovation Quarter. The university offers all facilities such as residence, dining, athletic and sports facilities, personal and career development, to name a few. With six colleges and schools, the university offers a total of 45 majors and 60 minors in myriad fields like law, business, medicine, liberal arts, sciences, and many more. The departments in the university also provide service-learning programmes, research opportunities and co-curricular programmes.

Accomplishments & Alumni

WFU prides itself on over 70,000 living degree recipients who have achieved recognition in an array of fields. Some of Wake’s notable alumni include Richard Burr, Tim Duncan, Robert Ehrlich; Charlie Ergen; Emily Giffin; Kay Hagan, and Thomas Marshburn. Only 40% of the total alumni live in North Carolina, with the test living in more than 100 foreign countries. Wake Forest alumni include 15 Rhodes Scholars, four Marshall Scholars, 15 Truman Scholars and 92 Fulbright recipients since 1993. 

Student Diversity and Visiting Companies

At Wake Forest, 30% of total enrollment is based on student diversity. More than 50 foreign countries are represented in the university’s undergraduate population. The university saw a 55% increase in ethnic diversity in only the past 10 years with at least 20 different languages and 30 religious traditions represented on campus. WFU offers expert advice to students looking for internships, jobs or higher education. It makes every effort to help students stay connected with the market and also train them to land high-paying and in-demand jobs.
