Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Sciences University (MAFSU) was established in the year 2000. The university is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). NKP Salve Institute of Medical Sciences & RC & Lata Mangeshkar Hospital was established in the year 1990. It is one of the most prestigious medical colleges that is opened with a commitment to health for all. Central Institute for Cotton Research (CICR), Nagpur

Central Institute for Cotton Research is a research based institute that was established in the year 1976 by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research. The institute was established in collaboration with the Government of Maharashtra. The institute aimed at increasing the per acre yield of cotton on the basis of the Brazilian model and it selected Vidarbha region as its pilot project. The other campus of CICR is located in Sirsa, Haryana. The university has its own library and laboratory for conducting and implementing research projects.
