Who is Eligible for JoSAA Round 2 Counselling 2024? JoSAA will release the JoSAA opening and closing ranks for round 2 in the online mode in the second week of June 2024. While many candidates were allotted seats per their rank in round 1 of JoSAA counselling 2024, many others were not allotted seats in this phase. Candidates must note that there are a total of 6 rounds in the counselling process. Therefore, applicants who were not allotted seats in the earlier round or candidates who were not allotted seats as per their course and college preference were eligible for JoSAA round 2 counselling 2024. Candidates Eligible for JoSAA Counselling 2024 Round 2

The JoSAA Counselling Registration Process 2024 will tentatively start from June 10, 2024. JoSAA cutoff for round 1 will tentatively be released by the authorities in the first week of July 2025, after the declaration of the seat allotment result. Candidates who were not allotted seats in the first and second rounds of seat allotment or candidates who did not get their preferred course and college in the first round were eligible to take part in JoSAA round 2 counselling 2024.

JoSAA Counselling 2024 - Detailed Procedure

Candidates must be aware of the detailed JoSAA counselling process before appearing for the JoSAA counselling 2024 on the dates mentioned by the authorities. JoSAA 2024 counselling includes steps like registration, online filling and locking of choices, allotment of seats to candidates, and acceptance of seats & paying the requisite seat acceptance fee. The detailed counselling process has been explained below. 

  • Registration: The first step of JoSAA counselling is the registration process. All candidates are advised to complete the registration before the deadline. To register every candidate has to log in using their credentials like JEE Main roll number or JEE Advanced roll number and password. After entering the roll number, candidates have to validate the fetched details respectively
  • Choice Filling: In this section of the counselling process, students will be able to mark their preferred choices. All the choices marked have to be in order of the preference of the candidates. Applicants who have cleared the JEE Main exam will be able to choose from NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs, however, applicants clearing the JEE Advanced exam will be able to mark their choices from various IITs. Candidates must note that they can use the ‘choice rearrange’ and ‘choice interchange’ options to edit their choices. The authorities will also allow students to use the ‘multiple deletion’ option to delete multiple marked choices. After marking the choices and ensuring the correctness of the marked options, students need to save all their choice-marked
  • Choice Locking: After marking the options available candidates need to lock their choices by clicking on the ‘I agree to Lock my Choices’. After entering the marked details candidates must log in using their JEE Main / JEE Advanced roll number and password to take a printout of the preferences marked 
  • Allotment of Seats: The allotment of seats to candidates will be made based on seat availability in the respective courses at various institutes. The choices locked by applicants while choice filling will be considered during seat allotment by the authorities
  • Seat Acceptance & Payment of Fees: After the completion of the seat allotment process by JoSAA candidates are required to make the necessary payment for seat acceptance. The seat acceptance fee has to be paid in the online mode before the online document verification process. Candidates are required to click on the ‘Pay Seat Acceptance Fee’ tab which will be further redirected to the EPG page. Students can select any one option to pay the fees i.e. through debit card/credit card / net banking as per their convenience. After the payment is successful, the payment gateway page will be redirected to the seat allotment result page. Once the payment status is displayed as ‘Success’ then students must download and take a printout of the provisional seat allotment letter for future reference

JoSAA Seat Allotment 2024 - Options Available

JoSAA 2024 seat allotment procedure is conducted through the centralized counselling process. Every applicant will be allotted seats and courses at participating institutes based on the rank obtained in JEE Main and JEE Advanced examinations. Freeze

If students are satisfied with the allotted college/institute and course they can accept the seat allotment and freeze their respective seat

Float

When candidates want to keep the seat allotted to them but at the same time they are willing to take part in the next rounds of JoSAA counselling, then he/she can choose the float option

Slide

When the applicant is satisfied with the allotted college/institute but wishes to change the course within the same  college allotted then he/she can choose the slide option

Withdraw

When the candidate is not at all willing to take admission in a particular institute despite getting a seat allotment in the counselling process, then the  student can withdraw their seat allotted by visiting the allotted institution

Is 75 percent required for JoSAA Counselling?

Yes, candidates are required to score 75% in class 12th or be in the first 20th percentile. However, for the candidates belonging to the SC, ST, and PwD categories, the qualifying cutoff is 65%.
 

Who is eligible for special round in JoSAA Counselling?

Candidates who haven't registered for JoSAA but are eligible for it based on JEE Main Rank 2024. Also, candidates who have registered for JoSAA and will be allocated a seat in any of Rounds 1 to 6, as well as those who registered but didn't secure a seat in these rounds, are eligible for the special round. Similarly, candidates who accepted a seat and paid the partial admission fee through JoSAA are allowed to partake. However, individuals who opted out of participating in the special round during reporting are ineligible.
