Brainware University was established in 2016. It is a private state university recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). It has received approvals from Association of Indian Universities (AIU), Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), Bar Council of India (BCI), Indian Nursing Council (INC), and the Ministry of Education, GOI. IIRF Ranking 2023 ranked the university as the Top Technical Private University in West Bengal. 

Brainware University is located in Barasat, Kolkata, West Bengal. It has state-of-the-art infrastructure, hi-tech labs and workshops. It features a staff of highly skilled faculty and places a strong emphasis on research and extension activities. The campus has a Central Library with a stack room of 1683 square feet, a reading room of 2968 square feet and an office room of 390 square feet.

Brainware University offers education to more than 10,000 students. Over the years, more than 2,00,000 students have graduated from the university. Suman Sen, a notable film director known for films like The Silent Echo and Abayob: Face the Devil Inside, is a notable alumnus. The university takes pride in having these names Abhijit Roy (BBA 2022), Abhijeet Sharma (Diploma in CSE 2022), Abantika Chakraborty (BCA 2022) and Abha Prasad (BCA 2022).

Brainware University courses include around 21 programmes offered at UG, PG, PhD, and Diploma levels, along with many skill-based programmes. Brainware University fees range from Rs 44,400 to Rs 1,74,900 per year. Some of the notable courses are B.Tech CSE, B.Tech CSE (AI & ML), B.Tech CSE (AI & Robotics), B.Tech CSE (Data Science), B.Sc, BBA, BCA, LLB, etc. 

Brainware University admission is open for the academic year 2024-25. Admission is granted based on entrance exam scores. The university conducts Brainware Eligibility Test (BET) for UG & PG admission. Besides BET, the university also accepts WBJEE scores for B.Tech admissions. JEXPO is accepted for Engineering Diploma courses. Brainware University scholarships are offered based on merit. There are also sports scholarships, Kanyashree Prakalpa, merit-cum-means and scholarships for SC ST & OBC candidates.

Brainware University was ranked 339th by the NIRF Ranking.

Brainware University ranking for MBA Private Colleges by IIRF 2024 is 51. In the Overall Universities category, it ranked 62 in 2023 and 158 in 2022, which is an improvement of 96 ranks in a year. Brainware University ranked 84th in the B.Tech Private Colleges category in 2023. For Nursing, the ranking stood at 289 in 2023 and 296 in 2022. It observed a jump in rankings by 7 levels. The university was ranked in the first place for Technical Private University in West Bengal by IIRF 2023.

Brainware University was ranked 47 in two categories. It secured the rank under the ‘Private Colleges’ category and ‘BBA/ BBM’ category by Outlook 2023.

B.Tech is the flagship course of Brainware University. The programme is four years in duration and divided into eight semesters. There are a total of four specialisations offered namely B.Tech Computer Science & Engineering (CSE), B.Tech CSE (Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning), B.Tech CSE (Artificial Intelligence & Robotics), and B.Tech CSE (Data Science). Brainware University BTech fees range from Rs 77,066 to Rs 1,22,400 per annum.

BBA is a three year long programme (six semesters) that offers both honours and general degrees. The degrees offered are BBA (Hons), BBA, BBA (Hons) in Digital Marketing, and BBA in Digital Marketing. Brainware University fees for BBA range from Rs 1,06,900 to Rs 1,24,066 per year.

Brainware University courses in the field of law include two five year long integrated programmes namely BA LLB and BBA LLB, along with one LLB programme of three years duration. Brainware University fees structure for law ranges from Rs 80,533 to Rs 1,03,400 per year.

MBA at Brainware University is of two years duration. It is offered by the School of Management & Commerce. Brainware University MBA fees range from Rs 2,27,400 to Rs 2,32,400 per year. Specialisations include an MBA (General) and an MBA in Hospital & Healthcare Management.

M.Tech offered by the School of Engineering is a two year long programme. It provides a total of two specialisations namely M.Tech in Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, and M.Tech in Industrial Robotics & Automation. Brainware University fees is Rs 1,19,900 per year.

LLM course is two years in duration and offered by the School of Law. The fee is Rs 99,900 per year.

To secure admission in Brainware University, candidates need to meet the eligibility criteria. For UG courses candidates must have passed class 12 with a minimum of 50% marks. For Brainware University admission in PG courses, a graduation degree in a relevant discipline with at least 50% marks is mandatory. Based on the Brainware Eligibility Test (BET), admission is granted.

Brainware University placements 2024 observed participation from 145+ companies that offered placements to more than 377 students. The highest package offered is Rs 12 LPA and the average package is Rs 3.5 LPA at the Brainware University placements. Twinkle Paul from B.Tech CSE secured the highest package of Rs 24 LPA during Brainware University placements 2023. The offer was made by Cargill Business Services India Pvt ltd.

Brainware University has separate hostels with various modern facilities for boys and girls, a well-maintained library with e-resources membership and subscriptions to international and national peer-reviewed journals, a Wi-Fi facility, wellness centres, etc. Brainware University campus has institutional membership of DELNET and membership of e-Shodh Sindhu and the National Digital Library. Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) is present as well.

Campus Life

The campus life at Brainware University is vibrant and welcoming. With students coming from all over the country, it has a culturally diverse student crowd. For students' well-being, mental health clinics and counselling are provided. Regular checkups are administered by doctors for student's welfare. Incubation support is provided to those who wish to share their business ideas.

Sports Life

Provisions for playing sports activities like basketball, cricket and football are present. Students can also find indoor sports facilities present on the campus. Along with studies, adequate emphasis is given to health. Therefore, Brainware University provides a well-equipped gymnasium for its students. With modern amenities, weight loss machines, and other equipment, BU makes sure that its students remain fit and active.

Hostel Life

There are separate hostel provinces for boys and girls. Armed with modern infrastructures and facilities, the hostels have high security and are secured by high boundary walls. Provision of RO water is also present, and in case of a power outage, generator backup is also available. Indoor and outdoor games with various recreational facilities provide the students with a perfect relaxing ending after a hectic day.

Student Societies or Club

There are various clubs at Brainware University campus such as Google Developer Student Clubs (GDSC) for CSE students, Entrepreneurship Club, Photography Club (Photo Frame), Tech Club, Communication Club, Cine Club (Deep Focus) and Innovation Club.

Brainware University received the Times Business Awards, West Bengal 2022. It is also recognised as the “best university for placements under UG & PG programmes”. The university has signed MoUs with TCS iON, Pearson VUE, Ardent Computech Private Limited, OWASP Foundation, CRY, Webguru Infosystems, Ohio Hospital, and many more.

Out of 289 institutions, Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, the Ministry of Education, selected Brainware University to receive the Rs 1,75,000 annual financial award. It received the best university for promoting Industry Academia Linkage at the 7th Edition of the EduMeet and Excellence Award by ASSOCHAM. It was awarded 'Excellence in Academics and Placement - UG & PG' by News18 Bangla Education Eminence 2023. Brainware University was awarded the ABP Shikka Shamman in 2022 & 2023.

Brainware University is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC), Ministry of Education, Government of India, Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME), and Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) as a Scientific & Industrial Research Organization (SIRO).

The university has collaborated with Sichuan Technology and Business University, China and Livingstone College, North Carolina, USA on an international level. Its industrial collaborations include TCS iON, Unacademy, Digital Googly, Life Productions, Nature Technologies, DCPL Tech, CRY, Pearson VUE, Ardent Computech Private Limited, OWASP Foundation, CADME, Webs Techno Private Limited, etc.

To support meritorious and deserving candidates, Brainware University scholarships help them continue their studies and excel in co-curricular activities without any financial hindrance. The university offers merit scholarships to UG & PG applicants. Through the excellence scholarship scheme tuition fees are waived, fully or half based on the candidate's merit. Top performers from institutions with less than 90% receive an extra Rs 25,000 in addition to the Brainware Merit Scholarship. There are four Brainware University scholarships.

Brainware Merit Scholarship

Candidates with a minimum of 60% throughout their academic career are considered eligible for this scholarship. The scholarships offered to UG applicants range from Rs 15,000 to Rs 70,000. For PG students, it is Rs 15,000 to Rs 50,000. Brainware University scholarships for diploma aspirants range from Rs 3,000 to Rs 10,000.

Brainware Academic Excellence Scholarship

Students who receive 90% but less than 95% in their qualifying exam will have half of their tuition fees waived; those who receive 95% or more will have their tuition fees totally waived. In addition to the Brainware Merit Scholarship, top performers from colleges with less than 90% receive an additional Rs 25,000.

Brainware Degree Enhancement Scholarship

In order to pursue post-graduation after graduating, a Brainware Degree Enhancement Scholarship can be obtained.

Brainware Sports Scholarship

Tuition fee is completely waived for students who receive medals, trophies, or certificates at the national or international level. Tuition fees are partially waived for students who receive medals, trophies, or certificates at the state level. Students are exempt from 25% of tuition fees if they have any district-level medals, trophies, or certificates.
