ISB Hyderabad to conduct Case Writing and Teaching Workshop

The Centre for Learning and Management Practice at the Indian School of Business Hyderabad is organising a Case Writing and Teaching Workshop from May 5, 2023 to May 6, 2023 on the school premises. The motive behind the workshop is to promote effective learning and teaching with cases. The workshop is targeted towards faculty, case writers, doctoral students and research staff from the academic community across management disciplines and representatives from business and the Government such as heads of training departments, consultants and individuals teaching as visiting faculty at academic institutions. The workshop fee is Rs 30,000, inclusive of tax.

ISB Hyderabad collaborates with Government of Odisha to strengthen Agriculture-Nutrition linkages

On April 10, 2023, ISB Hyderabad collaborated with the Department of Agriculture, Govt. of Odisha to strengthen linkages between agriculture & nutrition with a prime focus on lower-income households. A Climate Resilience Support Cell will be developed that will undertake research, exploration and analysis for building climate-resilient crop portfolios and agriculture pathways. The cell will also undertake research for identifying and understanding factors that affect the resilience of crops, farmers, and rural livelihoods in Odisha towards climate variability. ISB will also help the government in identifying policy innovations and pathways for a climate-resilient agriculture roadmap for Odisha. The MoU was signed in the presence of the Hon’ble Minister for Agriculture, Govt. of Odisha, Shri Ranendra Pratap Swain.

ISB Hyderabad launched the Blockchain Impact Lab

On April 4, 2023, the Indian School of Business Hyderabad launched its Blockchain Impact Lab in collaboration with S&P Global. ISB's DLabs Incubator Association (DLabs) took the step with the motive to help start-ups in the blockchain space to enhance societal impact. The lab is equipped with best-in-class technology, Ethereum Virtual Machine, Hyperledger Fabric, and multi-chain environments. Presently, it has four nodes and experts mentioned that it is sufficient for any kind of case setting. The lab will function both as a physical and virtual set-up and it implies that students can log in from anywhere. The current goal is to support 500+ student innovators and start-ups in its first year from the launch date. Furthermore, it aims to emerge as the leading global think-tank on the Web 3.0 ecosystem and facilitate collaborations between corporates, governments, and researchers for the wider applicability of blockchain technology in reaching Sustainable Development Goals.

FT Global MBA Ranking 2023: ISB ranked 1st in India and 34th globally

As per the Financial Times Global MBA Ranking 2023, the PGP programme of ISB bagged the first position. It has been ranked at the 39th position globally and 6th in Asia. For research, ISB is in the top position in India and in the 61st position globally. Furthermore, ISB is the only Indian B-school in the top 50 worldwide. In order to assess the ranking, the alumni from the PGP Class of 2019 were surveyed on multiple criteria such as the percentage of women in the class, salary percentage increase, alumni network, career progress, and career services. When asked about the same, Professor Ramabhadran Thirumalai, Deputy Dean – Academic Programmes, said, “ISB’s consistent ranking as the top B-school in India in the FT Global MBA Ranking bears testimony to its constant endeavour to offer its students a research-backed curriculum and cutting-edge pedagogy delivered by faculty who are thought leaders in their areas. ISB Conducts the 8th Asian Conference on Family Business

Indian School of Business had organised the 8th Asian Invitational Conference on Family Business with the topic as 'Future of Family Business' on February 4 and 5, 2023. 28 prominent family business leaders and experts were present in the conference who shared their experiences with over 250 conference delegates. The delegates were mostly the members of the family business community, from Sri Lanka, Nepal and India.

ISB Hyderabad signs MoU with TSRCTC

The ISB Institute of Data Science (IIDS) and the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the ISB Hyderabad campus. In the presence of Sri V.C. Sajjanar, IPS, Vice-Chairman & Managing Director, TSRTC and Professor Madan Pillutla, Dean, ISB, the MoU was signed by Professor Manish Gangwar, Executive Director, IIDS and Sri M. Rajasekhar, Chief Engineer (IT), TSRTC. According to Sri V.C. Sajjanar, IPS, the MoU will help TSRTC with route rationalisation and profit maximisation, and it will soon become a model for other transportation corporations. He emphasised the importance of promoting public transportation in order to address environmental challenges and other related issues. Professor Madan Pillutla stated that ISB is excited to collaborate with TSRTC to become a citizen-centric, service-oriented organisation.

ISB Hyderabad Signs MOU with SCSC to Help Prevent Cybercrime

ISB Hyderabad and the Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC) have signed an MoU at the ISB Hyderabad Campus. The MoU aims to focus on the following areas:                    

  • Joint collaborative cyber security research activities in mutually beneficial areas
  • Make a concerted effort to publish reports that will inform cyber security policy practises.
  • Develop projects for the AMPBA students at ISB Hyderabad for their coursework
  • Attempt to organise joint conferences and workshops that bring together academia, government, policy, and industry.

Shri Kalmeshwar Shingenavar, IPS, DCP Crimes, Cyberabad Police, and Professor Manish Gangwar, Executive Director, ISB Institute of Data Science, signed the MoU in the presence of Professor Madan Pillutla, Dean, ISB. According to Shri Kalmeshwar, IPS, cybercrime is on the rise. Following the pandemic, cybercrime has become a major challenge not only for India, but for all law enforcement agencies around the world. He hoped that this collaboration with the ISB Institute of Data Science would aid in the formulation and enforcement of better policies to prevent cybercrime.

Information systems professor Deepa Mani has been adorned with one of the 2022 INFORMS Information Systems Society (ISS) Practical Impact Awards. She also serves as the Deputy Dean for Digital Learning and Executive Education. The honour is given to distinguished academics in the field of information systems who have shown exceptional leadership and sustained influence on business practice and policy. The ISS supports the research goals of INFORMS-affiliated information systems academics. It supports scholarly gatherings like the annual Conference on Information Systems and Technology (CIST), the spring Theory in Economics of IS (TEIS) workshop, the summer Statistical Challenges in E-Commerce Research (SCECR) conference, and the annual IT Teaching workshop. 6th JAAF India Symposium 2023 held at ISB Hyderabad campus

ISB Hyderabad along with IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, and IIM Calcutta is conducting the 6th Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Finance (JAAF) India symposium at the ISB Hyderabad campus on January 6th and 7th, 2023. Authors were invited to submit their unpublished or rejected research paper in electronic form at JAAFsymposium_2023@isb.edu. There was no any submission fee. After that Symposium Program Committee shortlisted the papers for presentation based on the comments of reviewers, the quality of the work and the potential for contributing to the literature. Accepted papers for the Symposium were submitted to JAAF where the review for the journal was independent of the review for the symposium.

ISB Hyderabad collaborates with Government of Odisha

ISB and the Department of Mission Shakti, Government of Odisha signed an MoU for women’s empowerment and rural prosperity through a sustainable forest economy. Initially, both institutions will focus on women-led enterprises from six districts i.e., Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabrangpur, Rayagada, Mayurbhanj and Kendujhar, and is expected to benefit nearly 20 Lakh women across the six districts in 3 years.

ISB Hyderabad collaborates with Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare

To strengthen agriculture-nutrition convergence, Indian School of Business has collaborated with the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India. The collaboration will be led by ISB, the University of Sheffield (UoS) and the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). The launch meeting was attended by Dr. Abhilaksh Likhi, Additional Secretary, Pramod Kumar Meherda, Additional Secretary, Dr. Vijaya Lakshmi Nadendla, Joint Secretary, Shubha Thakur, Joint Secretary and Kapil Bendre, Director.

When asked about the purpose of the collaboration, Prof Ashwini Chhatre, Executive Director, Bharti Institute of Public Policy, ISB, said “The needle on nutrition in India has been hard to move. Higher Defence Management Course (HDMC) officers from the College of Defence Management, Secunderabad were hosted by ISB Hyderabad on December 13, 2022. The officers were high-ranking members of the Indian Armed Services and the International Services.Professor Manmohan S. Sodhi, FIMA, FORS Bayes Business School, City University of London, and visiting faculty of ISB Hyderabad, delivered a presentation on "Defence Procurement and Supply Chain Management" as part of India's defence offset policy, demonstrating how private sector supply chains can be linked to defence procurement and ways to apply best practises in it. Col. Rajiv Bhargava, former Indian Army Colonel, PGP alumnus, and Senior Associate Director at the Munjal Institute of Global Manufacturing and Punj Lloyd Institute of Infrastructure Management, ISB, greeted the officers and led them on a campus tour. DNV Kumara Guru, Senior Director, External Relations, delivered a presentation about the school and discussed ISB's partnership with the College of Defence Management.

Placements Highlights for PGP Class of 2023

A total of 222 recruiting companies visited the ISB campus drive and 1578 offers were made to students. As per the ISB Hyderabad placement report for the PGP Class of 2023, 73% of those placed were able to shift functions while 79% moved to a new sector. The average CTC has been recorded at Rs 34.21 lakhs. The report said that there was an increase in average CTC of 2.5% compared to last year. The top industries in terms of offers were Consulting, IT/ITES/Technology, BFSI, and FMCG/Retail. Consulting, Product Management, Sales and Marketing, and General Management/Leadership Programmes were some of the domains where the job was offered.

That completely depends on your strengths and weaknesses. Usually, the MBA course at ISB Hyderabad is not very tough if you keep learning the basic concepts from the beginning. Even for an average student, an MBA course is easy to graduate from if the concepts are clear from the start. Usually, the syllabus for the MBA course at ISB Hyderabad is not very different from other colleges and hence, we cannot say it is tougher than other colleges.
