At PSG Institute of Technology and Applied Research the students are endowed with modern infra and convenient amenities that make their life 'go easy' in college hours, alongside make learning more interesting. Some of the facilities include well ventilated classrooms, recreational areas, hostel facility for boys and girls, indoor and outdoor games, stocked library, seamless internet connectivity, medical facilities etc.
The NSS team of our college visited the orphanage named "Jeevakarunya Ashram" in Periyanayackanpalayam, Coimbatore on Saturday, 1st October 2016.This trip was aimed at selfless service to the orphanage students by our NSS team, under the guidance of our NSS Staff Co-ordinators Mr.P.Chinnaraj and Mrs.V.Vilasini, who helped us plan the event successfully.
Feeling one with nature has been the primary objective of the Eco Club of PSG Institute of Technology and Applied Research. The Club's continuous efforts to organize Tree Plantation Programmes around the campus, this time shifted its focus to go on a trip to get connected with Mother Nature. Hence, a one-day programme on Environmental Conservation was organized by Eco Club on 25.08.216 at Anaikatti, Coimbatore. The group consists of 249 first year B.E. students, 30 Eco Club members and 20 faculty members were participated. The team was led by Dr. P.V. Mohanram, Principal and co-ordinated by Dr. R. Sivakumar, HoD-Chemistry.
The Astronomy Club of PSGiTech had organized a star gazing event on the evening of 1st February 2017. The event being first of its kind in the campus created great enthusiasm among the members of the astroclub. The event was organized to help the club members gain knowledge about the night sky viewing basics, enjoy the cosmos and feel its vastness.
The aim of this programme is to give a platform for students to express freely on any topic of their choice. It is modeled on TED Talks.) It was held on 10 Aug 2016.
The first speaker was C.S. Nagaraj (II Mechanical) who spoke exceptionally well on "Billion Dollar Decisions made by CEOs". He analysed the one mistake/decision made by top three CEO's which altered the course of their organizations.
Nagaraj very eloquently traced the success story of Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Larry Page. He clinically identified one mistake these top CEO's made and explained at length how it impacted their company.
The next Let's Talk programme was held on 11th Feburary 2017. N. Vignesh (III EEE) gave an inspiring talk on "Don't force yourself to fit in where you don't belong". He urged the students to be unique and have an identity for themselves and spoke about dangers of always conforming.
R. Christie (I CSE) gave lively and very interesting talk on "Hack water; Don't pack it". He highlighted in a very spirited and articulate manner the importance of conserving water.
Shri Nandhini (III ECE) gave a thought provoking and motivating talk on "Be the alchemist of your life" on 25th January 2017 as part of the Let's Talk series.
Students enjoyed all the talks and there was a lively discussion among the students.
