Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce is built on 10 acres of land and is located at a very accessible place at Pitampura. Its location near the TV tower is close to Netaji Subhash Place Metro Station. The college is easily accessible by Red and Pink line metro and buses.
Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce has been a pioneer encouraging students in sports and athletics. The college has a Cricket Ground, a Basketball Court, two clay badminton courts and one Volleyball court. The college also has indoor games like Table Tennis and Chess. It holds Sahibzada Ajit Singh Cricket Tournament in the month of December or January to encourage students in athletic activities.
The library is an asset of the college which was established in 1984 with the establishment of the college itself. It has 4200+ books, 400+ journals, and 500 CDs to educate students on different topics. The library has books on Commerce, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Punjabi, Political Science, Journalism, Management and Sikhism.
A gurudwara is situated inside the college campus. The student society named ‘Divinity Society’ manages the Gurudwara. The college also publishes a magazine named ‘Amrit’ which holds poems and short stories written by students. The three sections of the Magazine, Hindi, English, and Punjabi is edited by three different editors chosen from the students.
URJA, the commerce society of the college provides a platform for integrated personality development of students. The society organizes Inter-College Academic Festival “RADIANCE” every year. The events include talent shows, debates, seminars, group-discussions, ad-mad shows and extempores on various current topics. The students participate enthusiastically and actively in all the events.
The Association of Students of Business Economics, the B.A. (Hons.) Business Economic’s Society organizes inter-college academic and extra curricular activities like group discussions, debates, extempore and quiz throughout the year to equip them to face the career and corporate challenges ahead. The society also organizes an industrial trip every year to provide first hand industry experience. Every year, the society also organizes academic festival, ‘Confluence’ which attracts participation of students from all over the university.
ACE, Association of Computer Enthusiast, includes students from all the three years of B.Sc (H) Computer Science. The Society organizes various seminars and workshops in upcoming areas of computer science. The society also organizes the computer department fest, COGNIZANCE, every year involving various computer science events like programming, LAN gaming, webpage making, etc. The society organizes various educational trips in India. The society also looks after the placement of the students in various prestigious companies like TCS, Wipro.
The world is being divided on one hand and united on the other, through culture. We must devise ways to survive in a world in which the cultural divide is sharpening. We must also recognise the importance of co-existence, which requires knowledge of and respect for every cultural identity.
Modern Science might have taught us logic, but we are not necessarily rational. Our holy text, a unique example of national integration, can offer solution to all problems, the need is to deciliter it in a new light. Keeping it in view, Punjabi Sahitya Sabha of the college organizes various seminars and colloquium from time to time.
In order to enrich the socio-cultural experience of the young students, cultural festival ‘Carnival’ is organized every year. As part of the Founder’s Day Celebrations, the college organises a cultural evening by some exponent of Sufi Kalaam. Bhangra reflecting and symbolizing the rich cultural and colourful heritage of Punjab, is presented and cherished by the young, vibrant and energetic students of our college.
The basic purpose of any National Service Scheme (NSS) unit is to encourage and promote services towards humanity through its volunteers by setting in motion various drives aimed at increasing awareness of general public. In this regard, the NSS wing of our college organised various drives like blood donation camps, tree plantation etc.
Our college has set-up a cricket academy ‘Sri Guru Gobind Singh Cricket Academy’, an academy which nurtures, guides and coach our students. Cricket has become thoroughly professional. It requires speed, strength, skill, temperament and team work for which coaching and training has become inevitable. Annual cricket tournament “Sahibzada Ajit Singh Cricket Tournament” is held annually as a part of the Founder’s Day celebrations.The college also has tennis academy where talented sportspersons are trained to harness their skills.
