Although lateral entry to the second year of B.Tech.will be offered to 3 year Diploma and B.Sc. degree holders only in the following courses: Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. Lateral entry will also be based on a first cum first serve basis and depends on the students' merit.

Some of the rooms have an attached bathroom, while there is a common washroom, which is very well maintained by the hostel staff. There is a vast recreational area with TV and table tennis for entertainment within the hostel. There are some rules and regulations laid down to ensure safety and orderly life for the students at the campus.

Computer Science Engineering is one of the most in-demand fields wherein this comes as the first preference for many people. The cut-off rank for this course in 2020 was 36,346, and in 2021, it went up to 26,525. These cut-offs are based on the WBJEE exam. One must also secure at least 50% in their HSC or 12th board.
