University of Engineering & Management (UEM), Kolkata

University of Engineering & Management Kolkata was established by the Government of West Bengal in 2014. However, the IEM Group has existed in Kolkata since 1989 as the University of Engineering & Management Kolkata at Salt Lake. The Group is highly reckoned in education related to engineering and management with a rich experience of 27 years. West Bengal Legislature passed the IEM Trust, Act No. XXV, 2014, to establish the university in the New Town area of Kolkata. 

UGC recognises the UEM Kolkata, Ministry of HRD, and Govt. Of India and focuses on Technology, Engineering, and Management with 2 campuses in Kolkata. One campus is known as the New Town campus, and the other is the Ashram building campus. AICTE and Bar Council approve the IEM Institute of India. The University is also recognized by India's University Grants Commission (UGC) and has the right to confer degrees as per section 22 of the UGC Act (1956). The university is promoted by the Institute of Engineering and Management (IEM) Trust.

UEM Kolkata courses are offered in various programs for undergraduates, Post-graduate and Doctoral courses. BACHELOR OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION 

The Bachelor of Business Administration course is a 3 years course at the UEM Kolkata. The eligibility for the course is that the candidate should achieve 50% marks in Class X & Class XII. The mode of selection is IEMJEE.

BACHELOR OF COMPUTER APPLICATIONS 

The Bachelor in Computer Application course is one of the most popular undergraduate courses for IT aspiring students. The course is divided into 6 semesters and includes programming language C, Programming languages like C++ and Java, Database Management systems, Business Communication, and networking software engineering. 

BBA. LL.B (HONS.)

BACHELOR OF HOTEL & HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT

This university is the first school in the Hotel Management sector to impart AI, IoT, ML, and Digital Marketing knowledge. 

The foreign language lab on the University of Engineering & Management Kolkata campus is free for students who can learn French and English. The Institute also prepare students for Government competitive exams free of cost. The 3-year course includes activities to develop supervisory skills, acquire skills in production and service of Food & Beverages, capable of managing front office and housekeeping.

MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION 

The duration of the MBA programme at the University of Engineering & Management Kolkata is 2 years covering 4 semesters. The specialisation in this programme includes Human Resource Management, Marketing Management, Systems Management, Retail Management, Supply Chain and Logistics Management, Digital Marketing Management and Event Management.

Candidates qualified in CAT/MAT/any other State or Central level exams with 85% marks have to undergo Group discussion and Personal interview before getting selected. 

Candidates who are not qualified in CAT/MAT/any other State or Central level exam have to undergo the Entrance test, followed by a Group discussion and Personal interview before getting selected.

MASTER OF COMPUTER APPLICATIONS 

The course duration is 2 years which is covered in 4 semesters. Candidates qualified in the Joint Entrance Exam in West Bengal or any other National or State level exams must undergo Group discussion and Personal interview before getting selected. 

On the other hand, candidates who are not qualified in the Joint Entrance Exam in West Bengal or any other National or State level exams have to undergo an Entrance test, Group discussion and Personal interview before getting selected.

INTEGRATED PhD PROGRAMME 

The Institute has maintained top-class faculty members for the Doctoral courses. The UEM Kolkata Ph.D. programme is offered in 2 modes-Full time and part-time. In full-time mode, students should not be employed in any other organisation or should not study any other course till the completion of the course. 

In part-time mode, the student can devote his time to pursuing the programme and simultaneously discharge his official duty. Students pursuing a PhD programme should mandatorily undertake Research Methodology and Computer Applications.  

The beginning of classes for the Even Semester is February, and the beginning of classes for the Odd semester is July. 1st Term examination for all classes commences on March. Publication of results for final year students will be done on the official website by June.

University of Engineering & Management Kolkata Admission Criteria

• Admission eligibility to various B. Tech courses is a minimum score of 60% at a 10+2 level of education; the selection also depends on WBJEE/JEE Main score. The candidate must also have PCM in class 12.
• Admission eligibility to other undergraduate courses, including BCA, BBA is a minimum of 50% and 60% marks respectively at 10+2 level from a recognised university or equivalent.
• Various postgraduation courses like MBA and MCA require at least 50% minimum aggregate in graduation with state or national level examinations clearance. 
• For part-time executive MBA courses, the students should have scored at least 60% marks in class 10, class 12 and at graduation level.
• UEM Kolkata course offers Ph.D. in various streams, the eligibility being a Master's Degree from a reputed university with a minimum of 60% marks or a postgraduate diploma of 2 years. The candidates also have to clear the entrance exam organized by the University.

UEM Kolkata Application Process

Since the UEM Kolkata offers a host of undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral courses, each course's eligibility criteria and the admission process is different. Interested students are advised to go through the eligibility criteria details before applying for any course. The admission process begins with downloading the application form, filling the form, and entering the preferred time slot and venue for courses requiring entrance exams. The admission process begins in March every year. 

• The selection of candidates for various undergraduate courses is based on marks at 10+2 with clearance of the entrance exams conducted at the state or national level or the clearance exam conducted by the University. The clearance of the entrance exam is followed by group discussion and personal interview along with counselling which the University also organises.
• Selection of the candidates for postgraduate and doctoral courses is also based on either merit or is subject to clearance of the entrance examinations followed by counselling.

• Visit the official website of the UEM Kolkata and select the option of "Admission."
• Then click on the “IEMJEE option.”
• Then select “Apply now.”
• Enter the personal and educational details of the candidate 
• Choose any date and slot suitable to the student for appearing in the exam

• The admit card for the examination will be forwarded to the candidate's registered email id.

Admission of candidates at the UEM Kolkata, is done based on WBJEE ranking followed by WBJEE counselling. The seat allotment process is based on the college's cut-off and the student's preference regarding the course and college campus. Entrance Exams for UEM Kolkata

To get admission to the UEM Kolkata, a Kolkata candidate must appear for the WBJEE exam. Based on their ranking in the WBJEE exam, candidates are given admission.

Candidates are also selected based on their IEMJEE/CET/CAT/MAT/WBJEMAT/WBJECA or any other National or state level examination.

UEM Kolkata scholarships are offered in various programmes for candidates of IEMJEE and 10+2 pass. The 4 scholarship programmes available at the University are provided on tuition fees. 

• B. Tech students who have scored 60% aggregate marks in the IEMJEE examination are eligible to get a 25% scholarship on tuition fees for the 1st semester.
• Students scoring more significant than 95% aggregate in CBSE/ICS/State Boards of Class X & XII are eligible for a 100% scholarship on tuition fees. 
• Students scoring more significant than 90% aggregate in CBSE/ICS/State Boards of Class X & XII are eligible for a 50% scholarship on tuition fees. 
• Students scoring more significant than 85% aggregate in CBSE/ICS/State Boards of Class X & XII are eligible for a 25% scholarship on tuition fees. 

Security deposit, boarding and lodging costs are to be paid by the candidates and would not be included in the scholarship. Eligible candidates must submit the UEM Kolkata Scholarship Application form and relevant mark sheets. The scholarship is granted on a semester basis, and the continuation of the semester in further semesters is subjected to scholarship policy. The scholarship is granted by holding a separate scholarship ceremony, and hence there is no policy of the University to adjust the tuition fees with the scholarship.
