KCET Exam Pattern 2024

KCET 2024 exam pattern is prescribed by the Karnataka Examination Authority. It is important for the aspiring candidates of KCET 2024 to be completely aware of the exam pattern of KCET 2024 before beginning their preparations for the KCET 2024 exam. According to the KCET exam pattern 2024, candidates will receive one mark for each right response; incorrect answers will not result in a deduction of marks. Some of the major highlights of the KCET 2024 exam pattern are as follows -

  • The entrance test will be conducted in offline mode, which means it will be a pen and paper-based exam

  • The paper will consist of multiple-type of questions. Each question will consist of four options out of which candidates will have to choose one correct response

  • KCET 2024 will cover units from subjects including Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology and Kannada (If applicable)

  • The maximum marks for each paper will be 60

  • Each question will carry 1 mark

  • There will be no negative marking for incorrect answer

  • The medium of the language will be either in English or Kannada in the exam

  • Each paper will be of 1 Hour and 20 Minutes

KCET Marking Scheme 2024

The exam will be conducted in four sessions according to the subjects. The marking scheme remains the same for all four subjects. The marking scheme of KCET 2024 exam is as follows -

KCET 2024 OMR Answer Sheet Instructions

KEA will publish the Optical Mark Reader (OMR) on their official website. The OMR sheet is divided into top and bottom portion, the top portion contains the candidate's personal details such as Name, Application Number, Serial number of booklet etc. Candidates need to take utmost care while filling the OMR sheet. The bottom half of the OMR sheet will be used for answering the questions. The instructions will be clearly written on the OMR sheet and candidates must go through them before proceeding to fill the form.

Instructions regarding KCET 2024 OMR Sheet

  • Candidates can download the OMR sheet from official KEA website and use a black/blue ball pen and practice marking the sheet
  • Utmost care is to be taken while marking the OMR sheet, and errors must be prevented
  • The top portion of the sheet is used to fill the candidate's personal information and the bottom half for answering the questions
  • In case candidates mark double answer for a question, the answer will be considered as invalid and marks will not be given

KCET 2024 Kannada Language Test

In order to demonstrate their proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing Kannada, candidates whose mother tongue is Kannada, Tulu, or Kodava and who are claiming eligibility for government seats under the Horanadu & Gadinadu Kannadiga clauses must take a Kannada language test. The Kannada Language Examination will take place at the following centres of Bengaluru, Belagavi, Ballary, Bijapura, Mangalore, and Bidar.

KCET 2024 Syllabus

The official syllabus of KCET 2024 is set by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) for candidates preparing for the examination. The syllabus includes the topics relevant to the entrance exam. According to the KCET 2024 syllabus, there will be three subjects that students have to study - Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics or Biology. Candidates must go through the subject-wise topics to prepare for the entrance exam. While studying, candidates must check which topics have more weightage and which topics require more time to prepare. This way, it will become easier for students to make changes in their preparation schedule, if necessary.

After the KCET seat allotment, it is mandatory for all the students to visit the allotted institute for admission and seat confirmation. In case any candidate fails to visit the campus for admission or to confirm their seats, then his/ her seat is canceled.

Dear Student,

KCET clearly states that the student must have at least 7years of studies in Karnataka. But to get into Karnataka colleges you can attempt JEE Main or COMEDK. COMEDK gets you into the same college as KCET but there are a lesser number of colleges and the fee is higher comparatively. But if you have special categories like Defence you might be exempted.
