The UGC NET Selection Process 2024 will be conducted by the National Testing Agency NTA after the UGC NET Result 2024, UGC NET cutoff 2024, and UGC NET 2024 final answer keyhave been released after the UGC NET exam in December 2024. The NTA will explain the selection process for the Assistant Professor position and JRF scholarship in detail in the official notification for UGC NET 2024. UGC NET 2024 qualified candidates will be awarded an E-Certificate by NTA as per the mode of selection specified by UGC. Candidates must also be aware of the UGC Full Form.
The candidates who have cleared UGC NET as per the minimum qualifying marks, i.e., 40% for General and 35% for Reserved Category shall be declared ‘Pass’ in the UGC NET 2024 exam. However, not all the candidates attaining the minimum qualifying marks shall be declared eligible for the award of an E-Certificate. Candidates will be considered for the UGC NET selection process only if they can attain passing marks for the UGC NET exam. However, scoring the qualifying marks and passing is not enough to be eligible for the next stage of selection. The candidates also have to achieve the cutoff requirements specified by the NTA. The UGC NET selection process 2024 mode or requirements to obtain the E-Certificate are as follows -
After the announcement of UGC NET results, the NTA will issue a notification asking the candidates to upload scanned copies of the education qualification certificates. After verifying the education qualification certificate, the NTA will issue an E-Certificate to the candidates, and the same can be downloaded through the official website of UGC.
Only 6% of those who applied will pass the test and be qualified to be assistant professors. For this 6% of qualified applicants, there will be a category-based reservation scheme in effect.

The UGC NET e-certificate holds a lifelong validity for the qualified candidates. Once a candidate successfully clears the UGC NET examination and receives the e-certificate, it remains valid indefinitely. This e-certificate serves as proof of eligibility for various academic and research positions in universities, colleges, and other educational institutions across India.
The number of slots available for Assistant Professor in UGC NET is not fixed or predetermined. The UGC NET examination is conducted to determine the eligibility of candidates for Assistant Professorship and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). The number of candidates qualifying for Assistant Professorship varies based on the performance and merit of the applicants in the exam. However, for previous year, the slot was 6%.
