UGC NET Selection Process 2024

The UGC NET Selection Process 2024 will be conducted by the National Testing Agency NTA after the UGC NET Result 2024UGC NET cutoff 2024, and UGC NET 2024 final answer keyhave been released after the UGC NET exam in December 2024. The candidates who have cleared UGC NET as per the minimum qualifying marks, i.e., 40% for General and 35% for Reserved Category shall be declared ‘Pass’ in the UGC NET 2024 exam. However, not all the candidates attaining the minimum qualifying marks shall be declared eligible for the award of an E-Certificate. UGC NET 2024 Passing Marks

Candidates will be considered for the UGC NET selection process only if they can attain passing marks for the UGC NET exam. However, scoring the qualifying marks and passing is not enough to be eligible for the next stage of selection. The candidates also have to achieve the cutoff requirements specified by the NTA. The UGC NET passing marks are mentioned in the table below:

Mode of Selection for Award of UGC NET E-Certificate

The UGC NET selection process 2024 mode or requirements to obtain the E-Certificate are as follows -

  • Only the top 6% of candidates who cleared UGC NET shall be declared eligible for the award of an E-Certificate.
  • Only 6% of slots are available for the role of Assistant Professor, and reservation policies are applied for the distribution of slots. EWS is the new inclusion in the reservation policy, and the slot allocation shall be done equally for all categories.

UGC NET Selection Process 2024: How to Obtain E-Certificate?

After the announcement of UGC NET results, the NTA will issue a notification asking the candidates to upload scanned copies of the education qualification certificates. After verifying the education qualification certificate, the NTA will issue an E-Certificate to the candidates, and the same can be downloaded through the official website of UGC.

UGC NET Selection Criteria 2024 for Lectureship

Only 6% of those who applied will pass the test and be qualified to be assistant professors. For this 6% of qualified applicants, there will be a category-based reservation scheme in effect.

The following formula will be used to determine the UGC NET qualifying requirements for Lectureships by category and the subject-specific merit list:

Only 1% of the individuals who applied for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) will be eligible for the certificate. The following is a list of the criteria used to choose the JRF-eligible candidates:

You can select any subject of your choice in UGC NET 2020 and there is no such limitation restricting you to choosing subjects related to your academics. However, it is recommended that you choose a subject related to your post-graduation or graduation as it helps a lot in the exam.

Dear student, it seems that you are mixing up two very different things completely. In order to be eligible to apply for the UPSC civil services examination, you at least need to have a graduation degree from any recognised University. For UGC NET, the minimum qualification required to apply is a postgraduate degree. Thus, only if you have completed your Master’s degree study in History or any related subject, you are eligible to apply for UGC NET with History as your main paper.
