UPES DAT 2024 Portfolio

Portfolio Review or Evaluation is the important round of selection in design programmes. So, design aspirants appearing for the UPES DAT exam must note that their portfolio must follow some instructions. The portfolio is regarded to be the best speaker of one's creativity, so students applying for the BDes and MDes programmes must check out the requirements of the portfolio below:

For B.Des

• Sketches: Candidates should bring their hand-drawn pieces made by using pencils, colour markers, colour pencils, charcoal, natural dyes and so on. It can be any object which may be used in everyday life, natural, experimental or symbolic. 
• Photography: They are also advised to display their photography skills by presenting pictures they have clicked.
• Digital Media: If the candidate has experimented with their creativity on digital media - such as drawing, sketching, and rendering using digital media, tools and techniques (2 dimensional, 3 dimensional), they can show these as well.
• Physical Model or Prototype: Candidates can also showcase any kind of physical model or prototype made out of clay, wood, plastic, cardboard, and others.
• Creative Skills Display: If students, do not have any of the above-mentioned things, they can still come up with anything which is best for displaying their interest, taste and creative skills. 
• Certificates: Aspirants with Certificates of Competitions or any other special mention such as any class competitions or other can voluntarily produce the same in the portfolio presentation round. 

For M.Des

Students must abide by the portfolio requirements for getting into the MDes programme, check out the details below:

• Candidates can present anything such as sketching, drawing and rendering by hand using a variety of digital techniques and media including colour markers and colour pencils. However, it should be within the 10-15 page limit. 
• They can also present their creative expression – both 2D & 3D. 
• It can also consist of physical models or prototypes either fabrication or construction. 
• The master’s programme candidates must present the ability to appreciate ‘Details’ in their portfolio. 
• The portfolio should also have an understanding of material, material behaviour, and its characteristics. 
• Portfolio Review will be followed by an Interview round.

UPES DAT 2024 Marking Scheme

UPES DAT marking scheme is the same for both BDes and MDes programmes. Students must be aware of the marking scheme to understand the final marking pattern. Check out the details below:

• Candidates will be given a +4 mark for every correct response. 
• It must be noted that there is no deduction of the mark in case candidates don’t attempt the question or leave a blank space. 
• So, it is advised to attempt the questions without worrying about a deduction from the total marks.

Other Requirements UPES DAT 2024

As the UPES DAT 2024 exam will be held in CBT mode, students have to keep a check on some things beforehand such as speed, browser, notifications and more. Check out the pointers below to know more: 

• Speed: The internet speed of the candidate should be more than 100 Kbps. 
• Pop-Up: Students must update their browser and pop-up blockers should be disabled.

Step 1. After opening Firefox, go to the ‘tools’ option. 

Step 2. Then select the ‘options’ and click on the ‘content’ tab.

Step 3. Lastly, un-check the ‘block pop-up windows’ check box. 

• Webcam: You should check your webcam, it should be functioning properly. Also, uninstall any third-party software controlling your webcam before beginning the test. 
• Browser Requirements: Students need to have either of the below-mentioned browsers: 

- Firefox - 11 or above (highly recommended)

- IE 9 or above

• Turn-off Notification: Before logging in to the exam, turn off chat or notifications such as Yahoo Messenger, Google Talk, Antivirus, and Auto-updates.
