3 Irish Universities Tie Up to Form Multi-Campus University for Indian Students

Atlantic Technological University formed by the merger of three universities in Ireland has come up with eight campuses and 600+ courses. The union is a significant milestone in the higher education ecosystem of Ireland.

3 Irish Universities Tie Up to Form Multi-Campus University for Indian Students

Three universities in Ireland namely Galway Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT), IT Sligo and Letterkenny Institute of Technology (LIT) have amalgamated to form the Atlantic Technological University, a multicampus educational hub, in an attempt to make the learning process easier for Indian students. The union took place in April 2022.

ATU will cater to 21,000 students across more than 600 higher education programmes through their eight campuses, research epicentres and iHubs spread across north-western and western parts of the country. The courses have been designed in a way to ensure that graduates are engaged in fruitful opportunities in Ireland and in other countries across the globe with a high pay scale.

This joint venture will enhance the scope of learning for Indian students in areas of global opportunities, academic strength, research and innovation. The institute said that the Indian students will be provided with the opportunity to contribute to the academic and cultural dimensions of the new university.

Ireland has developed itself as an exporter of computer and technological services with nine out of ten global software companies in the country. Intel, HP, Google, Facebook and Amazon are some of the famous companies that have been operating in Ireland.

Students will get hands-on experience through courses that will be career-oriented

Indian students mostly study STEM courses in Ireland and are gaining employment in the top companies. They are utilising the post-study work rights and are even gaining a work permit with the help of their employers.
