Boris Johnson India visit updates: On April 21, 2022, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson hinted at offering morevisas to Indians in response to securing a free trade deal that is supposed to boost the bilateral trade by billions of pounds.
He was reported saying that he was in favour of talented people coming to the UK and hoped that soon a progressive approach would be taken to allow more people into the country. India and the UK are leading the world in next-generation 5G telecoms, Artificial Intelligence to partnerships in health research and renewable energy.

India has been looking at greater opportunities for its citizens to work and live in Britain. Johnson said that any trade deal will facilitate the relaxation of rules and reduce fees for Indian students going to study in the UK.
India and Britain are already known to have a strong relationship, with millions of Indians living in Britain after years of migration.
Johnson will visit a biotechnological university that works in joint collaboration with the University of Edinburgh. There will be collaboration in science and technology which would include a Digital Health partnership and a joint investment fund for Indian deep tech and AI start-ups.
New AI scholarships will be jointly funded by the Chevening programme of the UK government and the Adani group of India. There will also be an investment of GBP six million from AI health specialists in Qure AI in Mumbai to open a Centre of Excellence in the UK.
The Prime Ministerhas furtherindicated that Indias demands for more opportunities for Indians to study, live and work in Britain will be accepted. Any deal between India and the UK will influence the relaxation of rules and lowering of fees for Indian students studying at UK universities.

Britain, on the other hand, wishes to tap the Indian middle-class market by offering them premium British products. They also wish to sell green technology to India and strengthen service trade. Johnson also said that the powerhouse partnership between India and the UK delivers jobs, growth and opportunities for the people and it would be strengthened in upcoming years.
