Over 11,000 Universities, Organisations Accept TOEFL iBT Home Edition Test: ETS

The TOEFL iBT Home Edition, created to let candidates take the test from their home amid the COVID-19 pandemic, is currently being accepted by more than 11,000 universities and organisations that aalso accept the TOEFL iBT.

According to a recent webinar, the TOEFL iBT Home Edition, which was created in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, is currently accepted by more than 11,000 universities and organisations worldwide. Delegates present in the webinar heard that the new test would be of specific use for Indian students going abroad for higher education.

The home edition of TOEFL iBT was introduced to let candidates take the English proficiency test from their home without worrying about their safety.

Director of TOEFL institutional relations at ETS said TOEFL iBT Home Edition enabled candidates who did not live near a TOEFL test centre or if they were taking care of someone at home take the test from the comfort of their homes.

Hampton added that universities as of yet have not registered any difference in the performance of students in the test.

Many institutions around the world have accepted this new edition of the test and assisted in making TOEFL’s mission a reality. They have also realised that both the home and test centre version are the same, Hampton said.

She further highlighted that students from India have been using TOEFL scores to apply and study at US universities for as long as the test has been launched. There are generations of Indians who have taken the TOEFL and studied abroad. It is, hence, important for the test to be available for them, whether they are studying in the US or any other country.

Lives of thousands of students  and families have been disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. During these unprecedented times, the TOEFL iBT Home Edition has been helping them continue with their study abroad plans, Hampton added.
