University of Gloucestershire is a public university, which was founded in 1847. Situated in the southwest of England at Gloucestershire, the university originates from the merger of two different parts of educational provision in Gloucestershire, including one provided by local government and the other founded by the Anglican Church. The university is affiliated to ERASMUS, BCA and Universities UK and carries a Silver rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework. The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2019 ranked the university 38th out of 132 for teaching quality and 44th out of 132 for overall student experience.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

The university offers more than 200 programmes in different disciplines within eight schools. It is known to offer the best quality teaching programmes. The students can benefit from the lecturers and researchers who are experts in their field. The university has three campuses among which two are situated in Cheltenham and one is in Gloucester, namely The Park, Francis Close Hall, The Park, Oxstalls and The Centre. From a well-equipped sports arena, Business School and Design Centre, to high-tech labs, mock nursing clinics and film studios, students choosing the university get the opportunity to access modern and advanced infrastructure.

Accomplishments & Alumni

The university's Alumni Association has a global network of more than 39,000 former students and staff from the university and its constituent colleges. The Association produces a monthly newsletter, arranges events and can help to reunite old colleagues and friends. Some of the popular names associated with the university include director Lewis Arnold, Chris Broad, John Brunsdon, Paul Day, PJ Crook, David Gandy and so on. Also part of the list are Turner-prize nominated artist Cornelia Parker, TV presenter Adam Buxton along with various other individuals who were awarded honorary doctorates and fellowships.

Student Diversity & Visiting Companies

University of Gloucestershire is home to more than 10,000 students from rich culture and diversity. International students at the university come from across 60 countries. Every year, the University of Gloucestershire offers around 4,000 work placements and internships to students in the UK and abroad. Gloucestershire, a country in the South West of England, has national and international organisations like GCHQ, Superdry, Raytheon and GE Aviation that provide a platform for employability to the students.

COVID-19 Response

The latest update related to theteaching and learning programme at theUniversity of Gloucestershire for AY 2021- 22 is as follows:

  • The university is all set to deliver its undergraduate and postgraduate courses as scheduled in September 2021 and is likely to restart in-person teaching after permission is granted by UKGovernment for on-campus teaching.

  • The University of Gloucestershire has implemented a number of measures to ensure the health and safety of all its students, staff and faculty.

  • Students can register with the universitys MyGlos student app, where they can find all updates and information about the upcoming semesters.

  • The university continues to welcome applications before and after the UCAS deadline of 2021.

  • International students travelling to the UK can apply for university-managed accommodation after paying a 200 advance rent payment fee.

  • For those international students who are not able to obtain a final transcript due to Covid-19, the university may accept a formal stamped letter from the school or college.

  • At present, the university is delivering undergraduate and postgraduate courses as planned in January 2021 via blended learning.

  • For theupcoming 2020/21 academic term, in cases where a student wish to be physically present on campus but is unable to do so because of travel restrictions,they will be given a full refund, only if the student has not participated in any online courses.

Eligibility Criteria for University of Gloucestershire, UK Scholarships for International Students

  • New, international fee paying students or students not from the UK who have registered for their first degree at the university or those who are progressing from a undergraduate full-time degree to a postgraduate with the university.

  • Studying for at least one academic year or two semesters.

  • Undergraduate or postgraduate students enrolled in full-time programmes delivered on campus. 

  • Postgraduate research students studying full-time programmes either on campus or via distance learning. 

  • Supporting the university with recruitment, marketing and alumni activities.

  • The student should be paying 100% of the tuition fee without any sponsorship.

Note: In case a student satisfies the requirements for more than one scholarship award, then he/ she will qualify for the scholarship offering the largest reduction of the standard tuition fee. 

International Grant Award

The International Grant Award is a scholarship worth £3,000 deducted from the first year’s tuition fee. Interested students do not need to apply separately for the International Grant Award and will be considered at the time of admission if you are offered a place to study at the university.

International Undergraduate Scholarship (IUS)

The International Undergraduate Scholarship is worth 50% of the international undergraduate 2021/22 tuition fee, to a total of £7,350. Students must be studying full-time and for a minimum of three years on campus. The scholarship will be in the form of a tuition fee waiver. The scholarship will be in the form of a tuition fee waiver.

The university offers these undergraduate scholarships in order to recognise academically excellent students and/or applicants who show an extremely creative portfolio. Only those who meet the university’s entry criteria can apply for the scholarship. Priority will be given to those who demonstrate excellent work experience and/or an extremely creative portfolio in addition to grades.  

An interview may also be conducted as part of the selection process. 

Applications will be available in January.

International Postgraduate Scholarship (IPS)

The International Postgraduate Scholarship is worth 50% of the international postgraduate 2021/22 tuition fee, to a total of £7,350. Students must be studying full-time and for a minimum of three years on campus. The scholarship will be in the form of a tuition fee waiver. The scholarship will be in the form of a tuition fee waiver.

The university offers these postgraduate scholarships in order to recognise academically excellent students and/or applicants who show an extremely creative portfolio. Only those who meet the university’s entry criteria can apply for the scholarship. Priority will be given to those who demonstrate excellent work experience and/or an extremely creative portfolio in addition to grades.  

An interview may also be conducted as part of the selection process. 

Applications will be available in January.
