The University of Sunderland was founded in 1901 as Sunderland Technical College located in the Sunderland City in England. In 1969, the name was changed to Sunderland Polytechnic and finally in 1992, it gained university status and was named the University of Sunderland. Today, the University of Sunderland is a globally recognised public research university and offers life-changing opportunities to students from across the world to study and perform research work at the institute. Various higher education ranking institutions have recognised and ranked the University of Sunderland as one of the top universities, not only in the UK, but all over the world as well. THE and QS World Rankings have recognised the efforts of the university in becoming the best in the world. Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

The University of Sunderland has been successful in establishing multiple campuses, in the UK and abroad. The main campus of the University of Sunderland is the City Campus located in Sunderland, which is the location for the university’s administration. The University of Sunderland campus is well-equipped with multiple lecture halls, a library and sports facilities at CitySpace among other facilities and state-of-the-art infrastructure. A wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses are offered at the University of Sunderland in various areas of studies like engineering, medicine, art, design, law, journalism. COVID-19 Response

Keeping the safety and health of all students, staff and faculty at the University of Sunderland in mind, an appropriate COVID-19 response has been implemented by the university. The steps and measures taken by the University are as follows:

  • The health and safety precautionary measures have been taken into consideration as per the guidelines outlined by the UK Government and the Public Health Department.

  • As per the government guidelines, all courses and support services are being offered on campus since May 17, 2021.

  • International students who cannot travel to the UK due to travel restrictions can avail the student services online and continue with the classes remotely. As long as the student is registered and engaged in studies with the university they will be considered for a student visa.

  • Various services shall also resume soon and students will be able to use the specialist resources, equipment and facilities like library, sports area, etc.

Scholarship for International Students

University of Sunderland helps international students in all possible ways to help them meet financial needs and manage their living expenses. Scholarships are offered to students who are enrolled in full-time undergraduate or postgraduate studies at the university that covers the tuition fees. 

The scholarship value amounts to  £1500  for an undergraduate course and  £1000 for a postgraduate course.

Apart from this, the University of Sunderland also manages accommodation cost for students which is around £3100 to £3900 for over 540- 50 weeks stay. Students can also use the monthly travel ticket to manage the daily travel expenses.

British Chevening Scholarships

British Chevening Scholarship is funded by the UK Government. It gives students with a leadership quality an opportunity to study in the UK. The scholarship is provided to outstanding professionals from across the world including India.

To receive the British Chevening Scholarships, the student must be enrolled in the one-year masters degree programme in a UK university.
