The University of the West of England, Bristol, commonly known as UWE Bristol, is a public research university that is considered as one of the most popular universities in the UK. Located in the city of Bristol, England, UWE Bristol received its university status in 1992. The university is known for its quality of teaching and is also the 2nd best university in England and 7th best in the UK for overall student satisfaction as per the National Student Survey 2020. UWE Bristol was also ranked 21st , its highest-ever position, among 121 UK universities in the latest edition of the Guardian University League Table.

With over 600 courses offered at the undergraduate, postgraduate and professional level, the University of the West of England (UWE), Bristol caters to a broad range of subjects across Science, Health, Business, Creative Industries, Arts, Law, Technology, Environment, etc. The different courses offered by UWE Bristol are administered by 14 departments at the university. All of these departments are spread across three different campuses of the university, viz. The Frenchay Campus, the City Campus, the Glenside Campus as well as an additional campus, i.e. the Gloucester Campus. Because of its outstanding teaching and dedicated faculty, the university has been given a gold rating by TEF (Teaching Excellence Framework). Among the notable achievements of the university, 79% of graduates from the university find professional or managerial jobs within six months after graduation. UWE Bristol has over 30,000 students and 3,000 staff, making it one of the largest institutions in the South West. Covid-19 Response

The University of the West of England, Bristol is working continuously to create a COVID-secure campus and protect its students, staff and faculty members. Given below is the latest information about UWE Bristols response to COVID-19:

  • The UK Government has allowed on campus teaching for all courses from May 17, 2021. Students of UWE Bristol can return on campus and access the facilities and join in-person teaching. However, they must first check the UWE Bristol email and Blackboard for specific information and confirm the same with the programme department head.

  • The university campus is open with strict implementation of COVID-19 safety guidelines and rules, which have been mandated by the government. Everyone must wear face-covering, maintain social distance and follow the government guidelines before travelling from another country.

  • All members are encouraged to take asymptomatic tests twice every week to ensure the safety and well being of all. The testing facilities are available on campus.

  • All students travelling to the UK will have to show a negative test on arrival in the UK. Students must check for specific travel restrictions and guidelines before travelling to the UK.

  • In case a student is unable to travel to the UK and take up their offer of accommodation, then the accommodation deposit will be fully refunded.

The University of West of England, Bristol (UWE Bristol) offers a number of graduate and postgraduate scholarships. The university also offers country-specific scholarships. International students can go through the following scholarship and then apply accordingly. 

International Sport Scholarship

Award Value:

1st Formations Business Scholarship

Award Value: A bursary of £600 ($800)

  • Must show a desire to establish a business.

Award Value: £1,000 per year for the first two years of study

  • Must be a new undergraduate applicant to a Faculty of Arts, Creative Industries and Education course.

Details will be sent after having received an offer of place on a course in the Faculty.

Faculty of Arts, Creative Industries and Education MA Scholarship

Award Value: £5,000 for one academic year

Number of Awards: 1

Study Level: Postgraduate (Full-time MA)

Accepted Nationalities: International

Eligibility:

  • Must be applying to MA in Animation/Graphic Arts/Design/Journalism/Photography/Screen Business/Screen Production/Multi-disciplinary printmaking

  • Must have an unconditional offer with IELTS or equivalent as the only English language condition. 

  • Must be a new student at UWE Bristol with no history of studying in the UK.

  • Must be paying overseas fees. 

  • Must not be receiving any other scholarship/award.

  • Must submit official transcripts

  • Must satisfy UKVI criteria with relation to living costs and the remainder of the fee (after being accepted for the scholarship).
