Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishwavidyalaya is an agricultural university at Palampur in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. Established on November 1, 1978, CSKHPKV Palampur ranks 11th among India's 75 ICAR Universities. This university focuses on hill agriculture. The Indian Council of Agricultural Research has accredited the university (ICAR). The aggregate marks of the CSKHPKV entrance examination and the results of the qualifying examination are used to make final admissions decisions. The University is situated at Palampur at an elevation of 1250 metres. It is near Pathankot railhead (further connected with a meter gauge train to Palampur) and is well connected from all important places of the country by road (NH20) and air (Kangra airport is around 50 Kms). A good number of buses are available to Delhi, Chandigarh, Shimla, etc.

The university admits students to various UG, PG, and doctoral programmes in agriculture and life sciences. Admission to some courses is based on merit, such as B.Sc, B.Tech, and Doctoral programmes, while entrance exam scores are considered for others, such as B.VSc and A.H., M.Sc, and M.VSc. Over the years, this University has contributed significantly to transforming the farm scenario of Himachal Pradesh. It has developed human resources, varieties and technologies and transferred these to the farming community enabling the State to receive the “Krishikarman award” of Govt. of India four times in a row for food grain production among small states of the country. Today, the State has earned its name for hill agricultural diversification and the farming community has imposed its faith in the University.
