Lucknow University is a public university established in 1920 in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. The vision of establishing a university in Lucknow was initially suggested by Raja Sir Mohammad Ali Mohammad Khan, Khan Bahadur, KCIE of Mahmudabad. He advocated for the foundation of the University of Lucknow by contributing an article in ‘The Pioneer’.  It is one of the oldest and largest state universities in Uttar Pradesh. Lucknow University is recognised by UGC and approved by AICTE and BCI. The university is accredited with NAAC with an ‘A++’ grade and is a member of AIU. As per the NIRF Ranking 2023, Lucknow University has been ranked in the band of 101-150 under the university category. 

Lucknow University offers 100+ courses at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels in the subject streams of arts, management, science, and engineering with multiple specialisations. It has over 45+ departments to provide students with a variety of subjects to choose from. The popular courses offered at Lucknow University include BA, B.Tech, MBA, MA, M.Sc, BFA, Diploma in Fine Arts, LLB, B.Sc, B.Com, etc. The course fee is affordable and ranges between Rs 3,000 to Rs 25,000.

Admissions at Lucknow University are offered based on the candidate's performance in the last qualifying exam or entrance exam. For example, JEE Main is accepted for admission to the BTech programme at LU. Registrations for JEE Main 2024 Session 2 are open and the deadline for application is March 2, 2024. The examination is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). For the academic session 2024-25, JEE Main Session 2 is scheduled to be held between April 4 to April 15, 2024. Admission to other UG and PG courses is based on UGET, PGET and CUET. The applications for UGET and PGET are expected to begin in March 2024. CUET 2024 is scheduled for May 15 to May 31, 2024. 

Lucknow University has partnered with 99 national and international institutions for academic and research collaborations. It has recently formed MoUs with Thai Global Business and Lincoln University of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Moreover, Lucknow University has a highly active training and placement cell which offers placement opportunities to interested candidates. Some of the major recruiters at Lucknow University placements are Samsung, Kotak Mahindra Bank, HCL, Reliance, American Express, Paytm, NIIT, Dr Lal Pathlabs, Colgate, Deloitte, Infosys, TCS and Wipro, IBM, and LTI. 

Chhatra Kalyan Scholarship and Karmyogi Scheme are two of the Lucknow University scholarships offered to students. The committee that chooses which candidates receive financial aid through these scholarships is chaired by the dean of student welfare. The Chhatra Kalyan Scholarship provides qualifying students with Rs 15000, which is equal to their actual annual or semester tuition. Students are urged to work part-time employment on campus, where they can earn Rs.150 per hour. According to the Karmyogi Scheme, a student can only make a maximum of Rs 15,000. To apply for Lucknow University scholarships, interested students must submit an online application to the DSW Office in the required manner.

Lucknow University Scholarships Eligibility Criteria

• The total income of the candidate's parents or guardians shall not exceed Rs 3 Lakh per annum. Candidate shall have to attach an income certificate attested by the competent authority. 
• There shall be no back paper from the previous semester or annual examination left by the candidates. 
• The candidate shall have secured a minimum of 60% marks in the previous examination. 
• The applying student shall make sure they have at least 75% attendance in the former academic session/year. 
• Getting involved in any unlawful activities shall null and void the eligibility of a candidate. 
• They are not getting any other financial assistance such as fellowship/scholarship.
