'A' Accreditation Institutes Allowed to Collaborate with Foreign Universities: UGC
UGC passes new guidelines on the basis of collaboration between universities, that will be valid from 2016.
The UGC i.e University Grants Commission has announced that universities or institutes which have less than accreditation 'A' are not allowed to collaborate with foreign universities or institutes, the announcement was made recently. This decision is made to ensure quality education and to maintain a level of education in India at international level. The commission has revoked or one can say it has made the 2012 guidelines invalid and has made rules called University Grants Commission (Promotion and Maintenance of Standards of Academic Collaboration between Indian and Foreign Educational institutions) Regulations, 2016.

UGC has come up with following measures on the basis of the collaboration between an Indian institute or university and a foreign institute or university will be valid.
- The quality of education
- Overall merit of the proposal
- Fees to be charged
- The credibility of the institute or university

An official said that collaborating with a foreign institute is a trend nowadays but to make the collaboration actually successful, the institute should be good on its own and that is why this rule has been passed.
