AIIHPH Pays High Rate Stipend to PG Students, Incurs Loss of 3 Crore
AIIHPH pays post graduate student stipend at higher rate.
According to a report by theComptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG), a loss of more than three crores have been incurred by theAll India Institute of Hygiene and Public Health (AIIHPH)as they paid high stipend to students of two post-graduate diploma courses without knowing that the two courseswere not under the regulation of Medical Council of India (MCI).
The students were from the following two courses:
- Diploma in Industrial Care
- Diploma in Maternity and Child Welfare
The institute demanded from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare toraise the stipendofthe studentsto make it equal to what the post graduate students of the government college in West Bengal were getting.
Students from government college are currently getting a monthly stipend of Rs 6,340, Rs 6,840 and Rs 7,340 for the first, second and third year respectively.
In June 2005, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare approved of the same but then they did not know that the above-mentioned courseswere not prescribed by MCI.
Later when it was revealed that two diploma courses offered at the institute were not regulated by MCI, it was too late as they had already paid a high stipend to the students and incurred a loss of more than 3 crores till now.
Other than this, the students also received a uniform stipend of Rs. 800 per month.
