AKTU to Introduce TET for Upcoming Teachers

AKTU has announced that from the upcoming academic session, those aspiring to teach in any of the technical courses at the colleges affiliated to APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) will have to sit for a common Teacher's Eligibility Test (TET).

The test to be conducted on June 19 for teaching opportunities at 600 colleges under AKTU in the state, will coincide with the entrance examination of students for admission to MTech and PhD.

According to AKTU vice chancellor Vinay Pathak, eligibility test for teachers will bring in better quality education along with heightened standards of research. To be conducted on the same pattern, first paper of the three exams will be based on general aptitude. The second paper for candidates of MTech and PhD will be subjective, whereby they will be tested as per the stream of choice. The third paper of TET will examine technical as well as teaching ability of candidates applying for faculty posts.

Various colleges and institutes under the university have advertised for vacant posts after which a selection committee was constituted to verify the qualifications of candidates first hand.

AKTU is affiliating in nature and its jurisdiction spans the entire state of U.P. in affiliating B.Tech., M.B.A., M.C.A., B.Arch., B. Pharma., B.H.M.C.T., M.Tech. and Ph.D. programmes in 785 colleges/ institutions imparting graduate, postgraduate and doctoral level training in all government and private institutions located all over U.P. in engineering, technology, architecture, pharmacy, hotel management and catering technology as well as M.B.A. and M.C.A. programmes.
