CBSE to conduct CTET 2026 Exam in 4 Shifts due to Rise in Number of Applicants

CBSE has revised the CTET 2026 exam schedule for February. Due to a huge rise in applicants, it will now be conducted in four shifts over February 7 and 8, 2026, with two shifts each day for Paper I and Paper II.

CBSE CTET 2026 Examination:The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has revised the test schedule for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) February 2026 session, which will now be conducted infour shifts over two daysdue to a huge rise in the number of applicants. The reason for the massive rise in the number of applicants is the recent government policy that has made it mandatory for all teaching staff to qualify for a TET to be appointed or promoted in government as well as recognised private schools.

According to an official public notice issued by the CBSE, the 21st edition of the CTET exam, which was scheduled to take place on February 8, 2026, will now be held onFebruary 7 and 8, 2026, in 140 cities across India.There will betwo shifts every day, covering Paper I and Paper II.

Instructions for Candidates Appearing in CTET 2026

Candidates appearing for the CTET 2026 examination are required to adhere to the instructions provided on the admit card. Candidates are required to reach the examination centre before the reporting time, as entry into the examination hall after the reporting time is not allowed under any circumstances. It is mandatory for the candidates to bring a valid photo ID proof along with the admit card to gain entry into the examination hall. Electronic devices, study materials, and other prohibited items are not allowed inside the examination centre.
