CLAT Counselling 2026 Registration Closing Today

CLAT Counselling Registration 2026: The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) will close the CLAT Counselling 2026 registration today, December 27, 2025, and it's time to grab a last chance for admission to NLU for those who have qualified the CLAT 2026 exam and are looking for admission in UG and PG law programmes. Counselling Registration for eligible candidates to fill in the choices will end at 10 PM on the official CLAT website, consortiumofnlus.ac.in to be considered for seat allotment in the NLUs participating in the process.

CLAT Counselling 2026 is being held for admission in 5-year BA LLB (Hons) and LLM courses in NLUs across India. Only those aspirants whose name was published in the merit list of CLAT 2026 can participate in the counselling process. The registration process includes logging in with CLAT credentials, confirmation of willingness to take part in counselling, payment of counselling fee and submission of choices for NLUs in order of preference. Non-registration before the due date will result in the candidate not being allowed to participate in the subsequent rounds of counselling.

Once the registration is closed, the Consortium will go ahead with the seat allotment process on the basis of candidates’ ranks and category. The counselling will be held in various rounds, and seats will be allotted on a provisional basis in every round. Candidates who are allotted a seat are required to complete the formalities to hold or upgrade their seat allotment within the stipulated time.

Documents Required for CLAT UG (LLB) Counselling 2026

Candidates seeking admission to UG law programmes through CLAT 2026 must keep the following documents ready for verification.

• CLAT 2026 Admit Card
• CLAT 2026 Scorecard / Rank Card
• Class 10 Certificate (for date of birth proof)
• Class 12 Mark Sheet and Passing Certificate
• Transfer Certificate (TC) from school/college
• Migration Certificate, if applicable
• Character Certificate
• Category Certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS), if applicable
• PwD Certificate, if applicable
• Domicile / Residence Certificate, if required by the allotted NLU
• Seat Allotment Letter downloaded from CLAT portal
• Passport-size Photographs (recent)
• Photo ID Proof (Aadhaar/Passport/Voter ID)
• Medical Fitness Certificate, if asked by the NLU

Documents Required for CLAT PG (LLM) Counselling 2026

Candidates applying for PG (LLM) admissions through CLAT 2026 must keep the following documents ready for verification.

• CLAT 2026 Admit Card
• CLAT 2026 Scorecard / Rank Card
• LLB Degree Certificate or Provisional Certificate
• LLB Mark Sheets (all semesters/years)
• Class 10 Certificate (for date of birth proof)
• Class 12 Certificate
• Category Certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS), if applicable
• PwD Certificate, if applicable
• Domicile / Residence Certificate, if required by the NLU
• Transfer / Migration Certificate from last institution
• Character Certificate
• Passport-size Photographs (recent)
• Photo ID Proof (Aadhaar/Passport/Voter ID)
• Seat Allotment Letter from CLAT portal

After the counselling registration is done, the candidates are advised to keep visiting the official website on a regular basis for the release of the first provisional seat allotment list. If a seat is allotted, candidates will have to opt for one from the three available options – Freeze, Float, or Exit - depending on whether they want to accept the allotted NLU, wait for better preference in subsequent rounds or withdraw from counselling. The candidates who accept a seat must pay the confirmation fee by the deadline, or they will lose the seat. Thereafter, the shortlisted candidates will have to do the document verification and then report to the allotted NLU as per the schedule of admission. Non-completion of any deadline in this process may also lead to cancellation of the allotted seat.
