Content on Corruption, Ethics to be a part of Curriculum

As per the talks between the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) and HRD Ministry, CBSE, AICTE, Medical Council of India (MCI) and other educational bodies, the former has been emphasizing the importance of educating students about corruption. It is possible that content on corruption and ethics will be introduced as part of the syllabus to educate students about the consequences related to corruption activities.

If the decision is implemented, students will get to know about the peril of corruption, the impact it can have on the members of the society and how it should be dealt with.

K V Chowdary, CVC Chief said that the commission has put up its concept in front of Ministry of Human Resources Development, the Central Board for Secondary Education as well as the AICTE and MCI. He also informed that talks have been conducted to introduce simple course content to help students understand what corruption is, more about bribery and how to maintain integrity.

He also delivered a lecture at the 13th anniversary of Vigilance Study Circle with the aim to spread awareness on vigilance in order to broaden the horizon of knowledge of vigilance professionals. Vigilance Study Circle is a professional body that was founded in order to make people aware with vigilance.

Ethics can be a part of the syllabus and can be included in small portions in secondary schools as well as professional colleges. This is essential so that students can differentiate between bribery and corruption, as both terms are mistaken by people to be the same.
