CSIR UGC NET question paper was reported to have been leaked a day before the exam. The question paper was allegedly leaked in Haryana’s Sonepat. As per the official schedule, the exam was scheduled to be held on December 18, 2025. Going by the local reports, the CSIR NET paper was procured by the cheating mafia gang on December 17, 2025. Moreover, the reports also stated that the two accused, Neeraj Dhanakad and Sachin, have now been arrested.
A total of 37 students were found to have been coached from the leaked question paper booklet in a building in Sonepat. The culprits allegedly charged INR 3-4 lakh for the paper. While the National Testing Agency has not issued any statement on exam cancellation or re-examination yet, the officials familiar with the investigation have suggested that exams at specific centres could be cancelled if the leak is confirmed during the probe.
The state government has not made any official statement regarding this topic yet. This situation attracted sharp criticism from the opposition parties and aspirants. Quoting Kumari Selja, General Secretary of the INC, she said, “The BJP government in Haryana has once again proven to be completely unsuccessful in preventing paper leaks. The paper of a prestigious national exam like CSIR UGC NET coming out before the exam is not just an isolated incident, but a deep blow to the education system and a serious proof of administrative negligence.”
Adding to it and calling it an ‘open injustice’ for the youth working hard diligently for the exam, she said, It is extremely concerning that reports have emerged of question papers surfacing before the exam, students being extorted for 3 to 4 lakh rupees, and organised solving being arranged, yet the government's monitoring system has failed entirely.”
