CSIR and Vietnam National University to Undertake Joint Research

A high profile delegation fromVietnam National University (VNU)visitedCouncil of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)in India to discuss modalities for undertakingjoint researchin the areas of mutual interest. President of VNU, Dr. Nguyen Kim Son led the high-level delegation. An interactive session took place between the President of VNU and Director General of CSIR, Dr. Girish Sahni.

In a meeting that was attended by the officials of CSIR and VNU delegation, discussions took place on different modes of partnership that could be considered for operationalisation. Initially, CSIR and VNU will collaborate through thestudent-exchange programmeat doctorate level (Ph.D. level). The student exchange programme will enable thePh.D. scholarsof VNU and CSIR Ph.D. fellows to exchange ideas and undertake joint research in the mutual areas of interest.

TheMinistry of Science and Technologyannounced that VNU and CSIR will constitute aJoint Working Groupto undertake and execute research projects of mutual interest in the areas of pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, material science and general technology applications. The partnership could be in the form of training programmes,joint research projectsor through technology transfer arrangements. More details about the research projects will be announced soon.

Such international collaborations in the field ofscience and technologywill bring out new innovations that are beneficial for the society. Similarly, it is a great opportunity for the Indian researchers to meet and interact with renowned researchers across the globe.
